If she is going to marry a non Muslim, then why is she stuck on trying to do it in Muslim way? She can go for civil marriage, why nikah?

she is doing both. civil - due to legality. nikah - because she is Muslim and that’s the Muslim way of getting married
and she is doing is secretly, without her parents present, because they do not know he isn’t converting. they think he did convert. they know they are getting married and all, they will just not physically be present for this “nikah” and she is tactfully doing it this way to avoid her parents getting too involved and questioning her.
