Why are moderate muslims(MM) shunned by conservative muslims(CM) as non muslims? How come MMs cannot have a dialogue with CMs and resolve their issues.

Are all muslims from windsor as un-informed as you are? Pick a newspaper and read up before emabarrasing yourself. The next big debate “supposedly” is going to be between CMs and MMs. You may think that there is no difference but the guy in the mountains of Afghanistan apparantly thinks so and so does his side kick Al-Zwahiri.
So Hunky Doodle do you think Salman Rushdie is a muslim and what about that canadian lesbo that wrote a book. They are muslims as well Right???

First of all, welcome to GupShup.
Moderate vs conservative? relative terms, interchangeable, difficult to define. Having hedged myself, I’l take a shot at your question. Conservatives fear change the most while moderates do not want to be held back. Botgh are opposing forces, thus the difficulty in dialogue.

Do you think that OBL considered Saddam Hussien and Hafeez Assad a Muslim? (just an example).
Point being that when muslims cannot even agree within themselves, how the fk do they (muslims) expect the west to change their policies(whatever they may be).

errrrr LajoJee…examples u gave r not of moderate muslims but weak or namesake muslims. Like I said b4, moderate and conservatives are relative terms, but for generalizations sake: moderates are those who are willing to read and understand the teachings of Islam according to the changing times YET NOT compromise on the basic principles established by the Quran and Sunnah. Whereas, the conservatives are those who wish to stick with age old teachings of Imams and their tradtional practices and refuse to acknowledge change.

Lajawab - Not all MM are pork eating, wine drinking, interest bearing certificates. I don't do any of the above and I consider myself a MM.
I think Gavrio's initial question should be re-phrased to the tussle etween Moderate Muslims and Taliban Style Muslims. Now, there is a big gulf between the two groups. Just look at what's going on in NWFP and the rest of Pakistan right now.
