my 100th post… thought i should try, as i m sure many already have, for a bit of muslim unity.

i was just wondering why can’t we muslims look over the small differences in beliefs and look at the huge similarities in the major tenants of our religion?

I mean the centeral idea of islam is God and all the sects regardless of their other views believe in the same God. We believe in the same Prophet(PBUH) and in the same book of law. So what if some have a different interpretation of some parts of this book? We can disagree in a respectable manner and try to show others they are misguided in our view but why so much extremism that we have to declare them kafir or non-muslim? Some go as far as saying their murder is not only allowed but obligatory on every muslim.

We can look at the western world for example. Catholics and protestants(sp?) have learned to live with each other. The europeon continent has fought the two biggest wars of history not so far back but now they are all overlooking their differneces, which by no means have gone away, and cooperating for the betterment of their people via the EU.

Can’t we just work for the betterment of the ummah as a whole and leave people’s beliefs to them? Even on a forum like this we have to decale others non-muslims. Most people dont even see the stupidity of such declarations. I mean what are u trying to have the other person do by declaring them non-muslims? Being a muslim one professes that s/he believes in the oneness of God and Mohammad(saw) to be His messanger. When you tell them they are non-muslim, would u expect them to deny the kalima? would it make u happy if they do?

Please wake up and unite. The reason we are getting such a rough deal in the world is exactly our petty differences and the fact that we’d much rather cut each others throats than overlook differences which in the big picture dont account to much anyways.

Why can't we overlook our differences? The reason is that we CAN'T and we do not.

Take for example Kalima, many people say it all day long but most of them don't even know what it really means.

The best way to bring about Muslim unity is to EDUCATE muslims about their religion. Once they know what real Islam is then they will start to change themselves and not adhere to darbaari religion that they were taught.

And about *overlooking *differences... if we do that then we ll have 10 more "islams" in next 50 years and people will still be fighting over those. Overlooking differences means **IGNORING **unislamic practices done in the name of Islam... how can you do that when you are a Muslim and a upholder of KALIMA?

see this is where the problem lies. each of us believes that s/he is practicing the real islam and others are following unislamic practices. and we get so caught up telling others this fact that there is very little education that can be done.

i m not suggesting that one has to follow their unislamic practices or agree with them. The best one can do is to calmly and respectfully try to tell them that in our view a certain practice is not real islam and give them our reasons for it but if they insist on it we let them be because they are answerable to Allah for their deeds and we for ours.

differences are here to stay (unfortunately) and no chance of their resolving in the near future ....but atleast lets unite against those with whom we have even bigger differences ....

1400 years have passed and Shias and Sunnis never got united, as this what is natural, they both belong to separate religions which oppose each other completely, The book of Allah which could unite them, Shias believe that Book has been tampered, they change the meanings of verses and words of present Quran and practically they do everything to play with Quran.

History is the witness that it was Shias who caused the split of Ummah for the first time when they murdered the 3rd Khalifah of Muslims (Hazrat Usman r.a,), since then they engaged Ummah in fighting with each other. They stay within our lines and cut the roots of Ummah.

>Shias betrayed thier own infallable 3rd imam, Hazrat Hussain r.a.
They invited him to Kufa and then betrayed Him.
For the punishment, they will beat themselves in the name of religion and love till the day of judgement.

>Fall of the Caliphate of Banu Umaiyah.

>Shias sided with crusaders against Salahudeen Ayubi. Well known fact, accepted by western and even Shia historians.

>Fall of Baghdad (Fall of Abbasid Caliphate) by inviting Halaku Khan. Shia
leader Ibn Alqami personally invited Halagu khan to attack Baghdad. And
Shias personally took part in mass-murder of million Muslims. Halagu decided to spare the life of the Caliph but Ibn Alqami convinced him to brutally kill the last Abbasid Caliph by letting an elephant crush him.

Behind Akbar’s deen-e-ilahi was shia named Abul Faizi.

Before that Teepu Sultan sent a letter to his neighboring state Nizam Shahi to join him against the British. Shia minister of Nizam Shahi wrote back to Teepu saying that he would rather support the British. So Teepu called on King of Afghanistan and Napoleon for his help against the British. When King of Afghanistan reached Lahore on his way to Delhi, the British got worried. They gathered all the prominent Shias of Lahore and sent them to the Shah of Iran for help. Shah of Iran started a revolt in Kabul and King of Afghanistan had to go back.

>Fall of Bengal through Meer Jafar Shia. He betrayed Nawab Saraj ud Dullah.

Betraying Hazrat Syed Ahmed Shaheed during his Jihad against the Sikhs. They poisoned him but he survived.

>Fall of Dhaka through General Yahya Khan Durrani Shia.

>Fall of Kabul (of Taliban) through Northern Alliance of Shias (supported by Iran, Russia, Israel, U.S.A etc)

>Fall of Baghdad once again by conspiring against Saddam Husain.

>Supplying evidences to americans against Pakistan and great Pakistani Nuclear Scientist, Doctor Abdul Qadeer Khan that they were involved in nuclear proliferation, though he was accused to help Iran in accessing nuclear technology, even the President of Pakistan and Information Minister of Pakistan mentioned this conspiracy of Iran against Pakistan in a live program on TV.

Now still one can think that Shias and Sunnis can unite?
I am sorry this is a dream of Fools' Paradise only.

We can't be so light about those practices. It is not the christians or hindus or jews standing in our way, it is our own selves. We are keeping ourselves from not uniting because we hold these practices dear and don't want to study islam and find out if they were really done and approved by the prophet and his sahaba.

Here is what quran says about keeping this light and feel good attitude about those who practice evil in the name of Islam:

They enjoin the wrong, and they forbid the right, and they withhold their hands (from spending for the cause of Allah). They forget Allah, so He hath forgotten them. Lo! the hypocrites, they are the transgressors. SHAKIR: The hypocritical men and the hypocritical women are all alike; they enjoin evil and forbid good and withhold their hands; they have forsaken Allah, so He has forsaken them; surely the hypocrites are the transgressors.

On the other hand

PICKTHAL: And there may spring from you a nation who invite to goodness, and enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency. Such are they who are successful. SHAKIR: And from among you there should be a party who invite to good and enjoin what is right and forbid the wrong, and these it is that shall be successful.

Now, would it be smart to have people with you who do not recognize what is wrong and what is right? What is good and what is evil? That is like mixing dirty water with clean fresh water...

I personally would not want people who ask dead/alive Imams (shias, brailvies, etc.) for help on my side.

It is a sign of fitan from the prophecies of Rasul Allah SAW. We will fight among ourselves due to our deviation from true religion and spirit. We will become weak becuase of love of material things and fear of death. Untill one from amongst the momineen will come to unite us under the true religion. Untill then we should all exhibit as much patience and forgiveness as we can.
This does not mean that we cannot differ with each other. Even the Sahabah differed. But they did not fight each other untill after the death of Rasul Allah SAW when they were disillusioned to fight based on conspiracies.
So the most important thing for us is:
"Hold fast to the rope of Allah SWT"

May Allah SWT guide us! (ameen)

How old you are brother. Hang on my friend we are trying to create peace here. Folks live in U.S & Western countries are broad-minded as compare to folks in sub-continent & in middle east. Grow up dude.

The fight between Shia and Sunni is All about Power we are both ignoring the Ayyat above that clearly states all diminion belongs to Allah.

Saddam was one man, and he is dead now, but every night in Iraq Muslims both Shia and Sunni get up and go kill unarmed Muslims who they have never met or seen before.

Of course there are fights in America... they are just move civilized due the fact that law and order is upheld in this country.

There is no point in discussing Muslim unity, it won't happen, it can't. No matter how many inshallahs and mashallahs you put next to muslims uniting, it will not happen... until Allah intervenes and appoints some divine entity to settle matters between us.

Besides, Muslims of today are too dumb to unite... people blame it on leaders, leaders blame it on people for Muslim plight. No body is there to take responsibility, take action and get things moving.

We have to unit. Sub nain bohat achcha likha hai siwaay aik kay jinhon nain likha hai na ummeedi kay yay tafarqa kabhi naheen khatm ho sakta wo intehai ghalat hain. Allah say poori ummdeed rakhna chahyay aur is kay liaay hum sub ko bharpoor iski koshish karna chahyay.

Kioon na hum sub yahan apnay baray main batain kay hum kia hain yani shia ya sunni ya koi aur aur phir yay wada karain kay hum tassub ya nafrat aik doosray say naheen karain gay aur apnay ghar walon ko bhi is ki talqeen karain gay.

Main kah rahi hoon is liaay Start main karti hoon Ummat e Muslim ki yak jahti kay liaay.

Main sunni hoon. Main Shia ko kafir naheen kahti mujhay bohat bura lugta hai jub koi kafir kahta hai shia ko to. Main koi taussub naheen rakhti shia say. Us waqt say jub main itna janti bhi naheen thi quran main kia hukm hai.

Shia bhi muslim hain Aik Allah aur Aik quran ko mantain hain main na insay nafrat karti hoon aur Allah nain chaha to mustaqbil main bhi kabhi naheen karoon gi.

Ikhtilafi batain karna chor' dain masla khatum ho jaay ga.

Muslim yakjahti Zindabad.

Chalain daikhtain hain kon kon meray saath nara laga kar muslim yakjahti ka saboot deta hai.
