Muslim representation at Universities.

Guys I was just wondering if UK universities tend to have well established and efficient muslim unions, I checked online but I only seem to get US universities-Stanfords page comesa up like 30000 times or w/e.

Seriously, is there a muslim student body which can help a muslim student get into the run of student life at most unis or do they just offer jumma prayer rooms?

dude many of the groups do not have info on the web. This is not true just for muslim students groups, but in general it seems like US student organizations have more info about them whether its special interest clubs or scholastic societies.

I ams ure if you contact the university and find out which university office oversees student organizations, you should be able to get a hold of student groups of your interest.

MSA’s really offer a LOT to the students.

i am an international student in the US and for me my MSA is like the BIGGEST blessing for me on campus. i might not have been able to pull through college till now without it. it is just great. cant say enough good things about it.

you can look at it from many angles…from bringing you close to other Muslims…many of whom u will form lifelong special friendships with (all my close friends/ roommates r thru my MSA)… to a community and family atmosphere on campus… to providing the alive and constant link to ISLAM in a foreign land… to events during occasions like ramzaan and eid when if the MSA wouldnt be there one would be extremely homesick and sad…to political awareness events about muslim related issues that make u conscious about whats happening to muslims in the world…

and much much much much much much much more…

MSA’s are special…

my MSA is my FAMILY on campus…

even though there r also some ppl in the MSA whom i dont know personally, even if i see them randomly on campus its like i know them already and i get this warm feeling…its not just me, my friends all of em, feel the same way too about the MSA :~)

i love my MSA so much that i can’t describe it and going to an MSA event is like going to a family event…i just LOVE it :teary2: :flower1: :flower1: :flower1:

so…

i think even if it doesn’t necessarily directly provide help in mainstream college things like classes and so on, it gives you the support and warmth and the kind of community and comfort which is the required building block that forms the base of the spiritual and emotional aspect of your life…which is the required foundation that gears u to do better in other avenues such as academics and other extra curriculars…that base that it provides tho is vital and the most important thing…its like your family and home that is always there for you warm, nice and cozy and your own that you need for solace and emotional succor…which although may not directly seem to be providing material help is actually the very basis on which everything stands…

hmm..so u kind of get what i am saying na…? :~)

there are a lot of MSA’s in US and UK colleges and they have a range of things going on…try searching a bit more on the internet and you’ll find more msa webpages..try the google.com search engine…visiting the websites is i think the best way to gather info abt their activities…

any more questions?? :~) feel free to ask, ive been pretty involved with msa’s and stuff and would be glad to answer :~)
