Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

Finally, muslim countries are taking steps to help each other and grow economically like our great ally China.

Only Economic independence will make muslim countries free from Gora imperialism.

PUTRAJAYA, Malaysia (Reuters) - Muslim nations moved closer to forming a free trade area on Monday, with plans to adopt tariff-cutting steps by end-2005 to bridge a gap between oil-rich and poor members of the Organization of the Islamic Conference.

“This is an important first step toward the larger goal of greater economic integration among the OIC countries,” the group’s chairman, Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, told an OIC trade forum.

Abdullah said OIC countries were negotiating to establish a preferential trading system to boost trade with each other.

“The protocol is expected to be finalized in November,” Malaysian Trade Minister Rafidah Aziz said. “The negotiations are now regarding tariff reduction modalities and implementation period. It will cover 7 pct of total tariff lines.”

OIC nations account for just 8 percent of global trade, and trade within the bloc amounts to 13 percent of the grouping’s total trade, she said.

LOWERING OF TARIFFS

“There’s a three-staged lowering of tariffs,” Rafidah added, describing the OIC measures. “Increasingly, we will be offering market access duty-free to each other in the longer-term.”

Morocco urged the OIC to use the trade pact as the basis for a free trade area.

“It is imperative to establish a free trade area among member states in the short term,” said Rahmouni Houcine, deputy director general of the Islamic Center for Development of Trade based in Morocco, adding that it could be set up within 10 years.

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

Why are goras always spoken of separately from Islam. Is being white and Muslim mutually exclusive? Will it always be?

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

China?

Where the word freedom is banned on the internet?

Good luck on growing economically. But, but isn’t China growing * because* of the goras, not inspite of them?

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

Ohioguy dude,

China is growing because of the hard work of its people. sure alot of western capital is coming in but, ultimately the hardwork of the people there is attracting all that investment.

And please stop bashing China. China is the hero of the developing world.

God bless China

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

are the muslim nations going to commit suicide right after forming this bloc according to global capitalist policies.

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

pssst; dunno if you've heard, suicide is haram.

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

Pak Brave Heart I have faith in you, if you work hard and stay focused you will reach the Mecca of China, that which is The Sweatshop.

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

China is growing so fast that by 2040 china will be the biggest strongest economy in the world and would be ready to invade gora a-hole.

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

So let's see.

Repression of Dissidents.

Repression of Relgion (Islam in particular).

Jailing of Journalists.

Hidden jails that dwarf Guantanamo.

And that makes China a hero?

Let me tell you. Before China there was Japan and Taiwan and Singapore and South Korea. Each one of those countries took THEIR hard work and innovation and coupled it with Western capital and built societies where poverty is rare, prosperity is within reach of everyone, and they are free and democratic. At some point the Great Wall of China will fall like the Berlin Wall did. Until then, Communists will try to repress religion and political freedom. When the people of China free themselves, when they can criticize their own government, when they can speak freely without fear of being jailed, when they can vote for their leaders, then they will be worthy of hero worship.

What China is doing is providing huge competition for both the Islamic world and India. India and China will both strip textile work and other business of the developing world from Muslim countries where security cannot be assured. They will get further ahead, you will be left behind. A lack of security will continue to impoverish Muslim billions. So far, no Western business man has been behaded in India or China. Big advantage. And go walk the streets of China. Do you think they give a rats butt about you? They walk up to every American they see, and they want to try out their English! Everybody there wants to learn English. You are just a customer to whom guns can be sold.....

Oh, and given how quickly the need for oil is erupting, China is far more likely to invade Iran than the US. Think about it.

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

well at least they wont invade our countries and interfere in our business

The only reason republicans are bashing china is cause they are scared of china. they dont want a second superpower

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

Why do you think that China did not object to the US invading Iraq? They need oil far more than any other country. Their use is growing exponentially. China has as much interest in seeing low oil prices as any country in the world. They have virtually no oil, and must import virtually every drop.

Think about it.

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

This goraphobia isn’t healthy dude.

Who do you think is buying most of China’s goods? And they aren’t attracted by China’ hard working people, but for the pennies per hour they pay their workforce. Great model. :k:

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

buddy,

The chinese were in the spot light before 2001. remember the republicans bashing china for spies and all that ?

THe chinese dont want bad publicity from us press. THey want the USA to focus on irak and not on china. That way china can focus on its economy. thats why china does not try to oppose usa publicly.

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

^ are you like 7 yrs old or something? Tell me braather...when china summarily executes uighers on a daily basis, doesn't your heart melt with fondness?

Re: Muslim nations edge toward free trade area, will help each other develop prosperity

The thing is that the Chinese people are smart. The Chinese authorities cannot dominate the internet. They cannot prevent the ideas of freedom and liberty and rights form filtering in. That is the beauty of engagement. The more you show the Chinese the rights that people have in other countries, the more they will want those freedoms. The little dams the Chinese authorities have erected to keep out freedom will give way as the flood grows.

Why would a country censor the word “Freedom”?

SEATTLE (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp.'s new MSN China Internet venture is censoring words such as “freedom,” “democracy” and “human rights” on its free online journals, Microsoft said Tuesday, putting itself in the middle of a major Web controversy.

The world’s largest software maker said that its “MSN Spaces” service operated out of China, which allows users to set up their own blogs, or online journals, was acting in accordance with local laws.

“MSN abides by the laws, regulations and norms of each country in which it operates,” said Brooke Richardson, MSN lead product manager.

The move comes as the Chinese government attempts to tighten control over the Internet. Last week, a media watchdog group said China would close unregistered China-based domestic Web sites and blogs. About three-quarters of domestic Web sites had complied with the registration orders, the group, Reporters without Borders, said, citing Chinese figures.
