Muslim lesbian couple from Pakistan defies life threats, becomes first to get married

Re: Muslim lesbian couple from Pakistan defies life threats, becomes first to get mar

Yes, and you are free to keep your loved ones away from things that are harmful to them.

However, perhaps someone thinks that eating meat is harmful to society for moral as well as health reasons. That person then convinces others to restrict your rights so that you can no longer eat meat, meat that is Islamically halal for you. That is not fair. There are plenty of good reasons not to eat meat, but in the end it is your decision whether or not you eat and how you purchase/prepare it. And you are not harming another human being by choosing to live your life in this manner, though there are far-reaching environmental, health, and moral reasons that some people think you should not do so. You should have the right to live the way you want.

That’s the way I see this issue. Perhaps you will say this is overly simplistic, but it is the above reasoning that is at the heart of my belief in the strengths of a secular society – protection of the rights of all to live life as they wish, as long as they are not harming others.
