Muslim League - A National Historic Asset!

Many like myself wondered about the Muslim League as founder of Pakistan as a Nation. Its something we all should be proud and learn about it as an National Historic asset. Good nations do preserve their historic roots.

Sadly, the variants of this name has been misused by opportunists just to counter centre and centre left parties with the respective name of Muslim League.

About time we should take a solid step to preserve this Name, its history intact and secure from these wanna be Muslim Leaguers!

  1. Make Muslim League original offices as National History Museums for Tahreek-e- Pakistan and its heroes.

  2. Ban usage of “Muslim League” in any shape or form! this will end at least a dozen wanna-be Leaguers.

Dont take me wrong, I always have been a good supporter of Muslim League - no Q no N no Z no F no etc!!! they are not Leagues at all in any way shape or form.

in this way we will be able to protect sacred part of our history and not alienate it because of political affiliations.

What you guys think about this?

I think all muslims leagues in Pakistan should be banned - the very name is misleading in a muslim country.. it implies that other political parties are competing against a party that is muslim.. it was formed in a very specific era to counter Congress and its function ceased after Pakistan's creation. after Pakistan's inception it should had been disbanded and a constitution should had been developed and new political parties created.. instead it lagged on and in-fact did a great damage with various dictators using it to play peoples sentiments..

Re: Muslim League - A National Historic Asset!

^^ Yes you are right!!! adding further in your reply, We should ban parties who have word PEOPLES in it because it gives impression that other parties do not have peoples in their party, they have some other creature... going a step ahead, we should ban the word Justice from being used in the party name, as it portray that the only this party stands for justice and others don't....

you sure got great ideas... you should share them often

LMAO!

Re: Muslim League - A National Historic Asset!

Well said. ML after Quaid became obsolete and transformed into Lota League. It should be named now as Lota League what it has transpired into.

Re: Muslim League - A National Historic Asset!

Well, Muslim League at the time of partition wasn’t a great one either. Remember Jinnah talking about the ‘khotay sikkay’? The league even at that time was dominated by landowners trying to make most of the newly formed country.

*The balance of forces was reflected in colonial strategies of power articulation and in the impact of these policies on nascent nationalism in the future Pakistani territories. Only in the Frontier province did nationalist politics, as espoused by the Congress Party, make any headway through the Red Shirt movement under Ghaffar Khan. After 1947, its leaders were marginalized by the Pakistani power structure. Sindh continued to be held under the political sway of British oriented large landlords. In the Punjab, the adversities faced by Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Muslim nationalism were highly indicative of colonial and post-colonial realities. For the 1936 elections, Jinnah and the Muslim League were shunned by the British sponsored Unionist Party, which represented the upper agrarian hierarchy and had the self-made Fazle Hussain as its titular leader. The provincial League was then captured by the Unionists, under the Sikander-Jinnah Pact of 1937, and
its activities severely controlled. It was only after 1942 that factional struggles within the Muslim Unionists led to a dissident group appealing to Jinnah for an intervention into Punjab politics along communal lines.

Muslim nationalism grew rapidly thereafter, but without overturning oligarchic control. In fact, the internecine rivalries provided the mechanisms for the landlord lien over politics, which continued into the new state of Pakistan. The cost was that the League was never able to mature as a political organization or incorporate a wider social base. This concentration of authority was to have major repercussions on post-colonial political economy.

Re: Muslim League - A National Historic Asset!

^^ I am sure you do.. that is your right.. there are people on this planet who object on the existence of Allah/God... no big deal

Re: Muslim League - A National Historic Asset!

Would you object to the concept of the People's Party? You know since People's Muslim league is also not acceptable.

Re: Muslim League - A National Historic Asset!

I started this without any prejudice against or pro of any party but only on thought about a great platform that created Pakistan deserve much better!

I think without inclusion of words Muslim League in same name in any shape of variant shouldnt be allowed by any of current politicians.

Muslim peoples party, or people's league etc I guess will be fine .

on the same not I am not pro peoples party but always have been critical of their policies.

Re: Muslim League - A National Historic Asset!

you should also ban the word 'Party' because if on party calls itself a 'something Party' does it mean the others don't party?

U could had given better analogy than bringing Allah/God's name here - to me a party with a muslim word in its name in a muslim country, a christain name in a christian country or jewish name in Israel provides unfair advantage to that party..
