i don’t think Dr Badawi has been very pro-hijab at the best of times… (perhaps someone can clarify?)… in any case, isn’t there an element of ‘terrorists winning and forcing us to change the way we live’ in all of this? Though admittedly it’s a temporary measure, but for how long is anyone’s guess. It’s a fine line… personally i don’t think it’d make much difference… if an “Asian looking” Brazilian male can get shot… what? should all Asians paint themselves white too?

Muslim leader urges hijab caution
A leading Muslim figure has suggested Islamic women should stop wearing veils, amid a rise in hate crimes.
Dr Zaki Badawi, head of the Muslim College in London and chairman of the Council of Mosques and Imams, issued the advice amid a wave of race attacks.
… Dr Badawi said: "In the present tense situation, with the rise of attacks on Muslims, we advise Muslim women who fear being attacked physically or verbally to remove their hijab so as not to be identified by those hostile to Muslims.
“A woman wearing the hijab…could suffer aggression from irresponsible elements. Therefore, she ought not to wear it. Dress is meant to protect from harm, not to invite it.”

hahah kinda ironic.. you wear something.. (a beard or hijaab) to look different and then you start getting rid of all that baggage just cuz there's trouble in being 'different'.
aren't these times supposed to be the test of 'true Muslims'.. why don't the sectarians stick to their beliefs now? keep those long untrimmed beards and head covers... can't stand the heat then u shouldn't have entered the kitchen..

To be a sectarian you need to be coming from a well founded base of knowledge from which you draw your beliefs…No beliefs means no burden of action falls upon anyone hence no sectarianism…
Just conjectures and whimsies and the wish to become a bug in the rug…

very weak reason given by muslim leaders for asking women to stop wearing veils.
you have to decide what is Important for you to spend your life in islamic way or spend your life in nonmuslim country.
if you people are facing deficulties following islamic way in any of the country then go some place else.
this is another thing if you people are looking for loop holes in "islamic way of living" to fullfill your own desires and wishes with weak excuses.

This is exactly why our Prophet (sas) adviced Muslims to live in Muslim countries if they can.
Someone should ask him, what is the basis of this ruling?
When the Companions of the Prophet feared their life threatned, they did'nt compromise on their faith, on their DEEN. When the Quraish wanted to kill the Sahaabah, because they were Muslims...the Prophet did'nt tell them to stop praying, Bilal did'nt stop saying AHAD AHAD AHAD...when being tortured.
Instead they performed HIJRAH. Yess HIJRAH (Migration), for that is the highest form of Iman....when you leave your home, your belongings, your family, your businesses and everything else for the sake of Allah alone.

I cant live without Hijab...example is......in "Flooding ka hai Zamana" thread. If someone is older than me or seniour to me and asking me to leave Hijab.......I can fight for my right.
