I am skeptical of the introduction story too, just with the way it is written. There might have been more tension involved than was portrayed, you never know. Seems more like typical wearing-my-heart-on-my-sleeve type of drama baazi that Christian Monitor is well known for.
However, I'm glad that they actually published a positive story on a muslim, for once.

When the prophet Muhammad (SAW) passed away ... Umar (RA) would threaten to kill anyone who said that Muhammad (SAW) had died. He did so in clouded passion over the loss of his beloved. Abu Bakr (RA) clarified the situation and what was the reply Umar (RA) gave?
"It was as if I had never heard those verses before and when they were related by Abu Bakr (RA) it was as if they were being sent down then"
So if a great Sahabi can forget the Qur'an ... why is it you cannot apply the same logic on a Mullah?

She stated Qur'anic verses and the translation....may be the mullah never read or heard the translation like most typical mullahs who only read Arabic text without the understanding.
If any clergy is guilty of reading texts without understanding the words then they are indeed ignorant. And here you are saying "most typical mullahs" don't understand Arabic. I thought you had respect for mullahs? Because I don't know how anyone could have respect for clergy that doesn't know the translation of the words they are repeating.

That was a different situation . A prophet(SAW) , a great leader, a great teacher , a very , very , very great man has passed away. Hazrat Umer(RA) was too close to accept this fact. It was mind boggling for Hazrat Umer. This analogy cannot be applied here. This Mullah and his congregation did not experience the pain Hazrat Umer did, these people were sitting in a masjid and passing judgment with a cool mind. I guess.

It is a piece of writing or at most self promotion stunt and nothing else by this Afghan lady. Becuase just by creating such stories they are able to get attention of western media.

^^ Such analytical capabilities are assisted by experience, observation, meeting up with people and being physically there, from mountainious peaks of Chitral to coast of Makran, through Middle East and Europe and US. (Not been to US physically but have alot of Americans at work)
I will strongly urge to try to meet up with few people to develop such analytical skills and you will have bright Future ..... young lady ??:biggthumb

or Jab koi in(west) ky qwaneen ky bary main zuban kholti hy tu westren media tu is ko sirf ignore kerta hy. Apna Eastren media and log os ko achi trh abyizat kerna apna farzy awaleen samjhty hain:)
