Speaking on the telephone with CNN, Muslim Khan announced that all national and provincial parliament members from the Malakand Division, the northwestern region where the Swat Valley is located, must resign within three days.
“Otherwise, we will arrest all their families,” Khan threatened, "and we will destroy all their buildings
Several terrified Swat residents, speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal from the Taliban, described how insurgents kidnapped and killed their critics, beheaded government informers and blew up girls’ schools.
Khan denied the accusations
“We are killing the people which are only no good for society, like thieves and people who are making problem for the poor people, like people who are working for army,” he said. “We are only killing these people.”
On Tuesday, the Pakistani army announced that it had dropped special forces soldiers by helicopter into the Peochar area of Swat, which is thought to be the headquarters for the region’s Taliban’s leader, Maulana Fazliullah. Local media report that the Taliban have training camps in Peochar.
Khan confirmed that Pakistani troops had attacked Peochar, which he described as a “place for mujaheddin,” or holy warriors.

Why is it that our Govt will send the army in, bomb the hell out of lal masjid or swat, displace hundreds of thousands of people, but fail to turn off cell phont towers or exchanges in these areas. Even if hes using a satellite phone like thuraya, arent you supposed to get any security clearance before getting a cell phone that would work even in the arctics?

Yeah, so inorder to overcome the incompetence, let's get some help from the U.S. Army sitting couple of miles away in Afghanistan. yaar tum bhi bari shaay ho. the aiffin rat is admitting killing people who dont meet taliban set society standards and you're still gunning the gov't and army down.
anyway, about the jamming signals and whatnot, who knows where this rat called cnn from. He could've escaped with IDPs.

Ignorance is bliss. For Thuraya's you do not need anything. The Darfuri rebels use them. The UN uses them. My Thuraya works all over the world, I can enter Pakistan and use it and nobody will know. That is what satellite phones are for. As for jamming, highly improbable. If possible its only available to the US and EU. Just like GPS.

with a limited number of connections out there they should do an audit; not ignoring the fact taht every thuraya set transmits its location.
please look up spotbeams and transponders and how can be shut off. Question is, does our Govt have the balls or brains to ask the provider to do this or not.
Remember, Zarqavi was killed in Iraq after his signal was zeroed in by the coalition using his thuraya satellite phone.

thuraya on satellite does not work all over the world, it works on regular providers where there's no satellite coverage, just like any other phone would.
