Allah's Apostle said, "Do not enter (the places) of these people where Allah's punishment had fallen unless you do so weeping. If you do not weep, do not enter (the places of these people) because Allah's curse and punishment which fell upon them may fall upon you."
We should avoid even going to non-muslim graveyards, let alone be buried there. The more pious your graveyard neighbors, the better.
Ok, but the reason why I’m asking is that my grandmother’s brother had his head cut off by the Japanese in Hong Kong in 1943. They threw his body into a mass grave with around 25 confucians and christians. Obviously, the Japanese did not permit a janazah prayer for him when they killed him and threw his head and body into the pit.
Several years after the war, the British army dug up his skeleton and reburied it in a British military graveyard in an individual grave with a gravestone indicating he was Muslim. Him, 4 other Muslims and 4 Jews are the only non-Christians buried in the graveyard.
Does the fact that he was not permitted a Janazah by his executioners, and not buried in a Muslim way by his killers, count against him?
In such a situation, could someone’s skeleton be dug up and a janazah done when possible?
Its the same with those who don't get buried ie. people who are blown up in war. They have no control over what happens after death. It is our deeds in this world that we take back and held accountable for, not how someone decides to bury us.
