has anyone ever heard of Anaida? Never heard of her…

Musicians unite for Asian peace

Rock band Junoon want peace between Pakistan and India
Top Pakistani rock band Junoon and one of India’s most popular singers are to unite at a concert to spread a message of peace between the two countries.
Junoon and singer Anaida will appear at the concert in the Pakistani city of Karachi on Saturday, to start a “global peace” campaign.

The concert is staged amid the US’s war in Iraq and the threat of violence between Pakistan and India over the disputed Kashmir state.

“The world has seen too much blood since 11 September, 2001 and too many burnings of effigies in protest rallies,” Junoon’s singer Ali Azmat said.

The concert is the first time the two acts have played together. Thousands of fans are expected to attend.

“Anaida will perform to negate the theory of war,” Azmat said.

The band and Anaida have called for more contact between India and Pakistan.

“Singers on both sides of the borders are ready to play their role,” Anaida said.

‘Sing for peace’

“People to people contact is the best voice for peace.”

The two acts will be joined by eight other Pakistani bands who will also promote the pro-peace message.

“They will only sing for peace and will say no to war,” Azmat said.

“We will also go to Bangladesh and Dubai for similar concerts. Junoon would love to perform in India, if allowed.”

Junoon, who formed in 1990, are regarded as Pakistan’s equivalent to U2.

They have played in Europe and in the US, including the BBC’s Mega Mela event in Birmingham last year, and outside the UN headquarters in New York after the 11 September attacks.

They have written songs protesting against the attacks, corruption in Pakistan and the proliferation of nuclear weapons in south Asia.

They have also spoken out in favour of literacy programmes and anti-Aids initiatives.

junoon's so fake. they should stick to trying to make good music.

Junoon is awesome. One of a kind Pakistani music. Not many artists can sing Allama Iqbal's poems in rock style.

I don't like Junoon but good luck to them in their efforts. It's the politicians who can really make a difference though.

man, I was just about to tell you how my admiration for you has grown so much given that you're a PAF officer. but...

either way, for auditing purposes, I wanna wish you best of luck in everything you do in the PAF. hope you have a blast.

I dont know when these people will get it that Junoon or anyone else would not be able to pring peace in the resgion by music. We have serious issues, big conflicts... singing with inspirational lyrics might bring some emotion out of you but it will definatley not bring world peace. Politicians, leaders, governments working towards that by trying to solve issues will be the only way we are going to be able bring peace to South Asia. Best of luck to Junnon, but I think they are working for a lost cause.

ooh sambi come on I was jokin ...now dont make me feel bad.:(

btw : 80% of pakistani air force is crazy about junoon, and in my opinion they are quite good.

don't worry about it yaar. I was trying to make you feel guilty as a going away gift.

either way man tell me something about yourself. did you go to Risalpur? are you just one of them pilot thingys or are you an engineer? we once had adjutant from the Air Force. man, his pants were too tight. are all pants in the PAF uniform required to be that tight?

and oh yeah, why are/were you in England? deputation/training or something like that.

1 ..I am an engineer.(Avionics)

2. I was working for a multinational company producing embeded DRAM and processor IP.

3. I am not on deputation and am still in the UK till the end of May , thats why I am on GS.

4. I have a fetish for tight trousers , but I dint pick that up from the Air force.

PS: Which country r u in ?

good stuff, man. the PAF has a special place in my heart. I wanted to be a pilot when I was young and stupid. but my eyesight is weak so that wasn't gonna happen.

I'm in Canada.

Junoon has some cool songs.

No Junoons doing all for good.:)
