So most of us listen to the English & Pakistani/Hindi songs as a majority, right?
Do some of you guys enjoy listening to other songs of different languages?
I for one, LOVE those arabic songs. <>. They are amaazinggg, either if it’s a traditional song or a remixed traditional song.
I also like listening to Turkish <> music. A while back, there was this young Turkish guy out: Turkan who sung/composed the songs.
so yeah, Arabic music & Turkish music is my other linguistic favs. It’s funny though: i barely understand the arabic songs. As for understanding the turkish songs: not at all!!
but still…weird how you enjoy listening to such amazing instrumental music.
and it’s also neat how, as Pakistanis with a rich Cutlure, we additionally “embrace” the songs of other Rich Cultures.
Actually some of the arabic music out there is really good. My firsht contact with arabic music was the theme to the captain majid cartoon. Musicians like Khaled, and something-Rauf are pretty good. That didi song really brings back some good ol' memories.
Of the little African music I've heard, I would think it's simply awesome. Contrary to popular belief, african songs ae not all about masai warriors in war-paint banging drums. Peter Gabriel and Deep Forest have some really good African-inspired work.
Hummus tastes good. I used to listen to some arabic music in Beirut. Then I used to love indian and paki music, but then I figured indian and paki sing about the same crap and copy the crap of each other. so i ditched it, and started to listen to rap when I came here.
