What kind of music have yall played or planned to play at ur wedding?
I like a mixture of everything… desi love songs, bhangra, hip hop, rnb, arabic, techno/trance/house…
… but im sure aunties and uncles would not appreciate house music with no lyrics…
… should go ahead and play a mix of all my favorite songs?
Re: Music
i would say stick to mostly desi filmi typa songs.. and some bhangra for the dance floor. to keep the aunties and uncles happy lol. you can have your other favs at the dholkis/mehndi?
Re: Music
but the whole point is to have my favs at the Rukhsati to keep all my young friends entertained.
Any way you can separate the crowd into two rooms/separate areas? I'm having some of my favorite dance music (mostly Western and Arabic tunes) at my wedding but the room where the dancing and music will be is advertised as single-women-only---everyone else will have a separate area with tables, chai service, and no loud music. I'll be able to discreetly pull in the married women I want there---American friends, my sister, sisters-in-law, etc. It's the most tactful way I could think of to keep away the aunties.
Re: Music
hmmm I dont want a separation at my wedding... i want everyone to enjoy everything together...
Re: Music
Desi_B… i love heavy metal and rock… but i didn’t play it at my wedding!!
Sometimes, you have to put your own preferences aside, just to please the majority of people… and tbh i don’t think house music is ‘appropriate’ at a wedding… maybe at a rave once you’re both married eh ?
At ours we had a mixture of classical, desi, arabic/turkish, dance, cheesy french muzak etc…
Are you going to have a dancefloor? We had one at ours, And there were people dancing to bhangra a etc… and half way through we all did a classic middle eastern dance, you must’ve seen it, where you’re all in a big circle, and the men are waving handkerchiefs in their hands
… both my hubby and i are not middle eastern btw… but it was spontaneous and i couldn’t believe that everyone joined in
