When I see people as talented as Adnan et al, I am forced to wonder why Allah gave such tremendous talent if He did not wish for us to make use of it…
What do you think?

Bella … :k:
Re: Music, Talent and Islam
Well there coudl many other ways to use this talent. Bilal also had a beautiful voice and because of this, he was chosen to become a muezzin.
Also look at Junaid Jamshed, he now uses his talents of a beautiful voice to rectie Qaseedas and Nasheeds.
He does give us the talent. The trick is to use the talent to benefit ourselves in the Akhira.
Re: Music, Talent and Islam
Wallah, whenever i see talent like that in Music, Painting & Arts, i question why they should be consider haraam or else.
Re: Music, Talent and Islam
art is not haram. just the drawing of people and animals i believe is considered haram.
look how beautiful Haji Noor Deen does caligraphy. Look at the most beautiful masjids - now that is art.
Re: Music, Talent and Islam
Can someone please post the proper Hadith which makes music haram.
And maybe the majority opinion of Islamic scholars on this topic.
Re: Music, Talent and Islam
Makes me wonder too ?
I do not believe in those ahadees which have categoraically declared all music haram and all pintings haram.

What's wrong with modern architecture styles or rennasance era art & deco styles, why only masjids? Why only nasheeds? What's wrong with pop/rock style of music?
What's wrong with drawing pictures of living creatures, human drawing is more old then Islam. Look at the Romans, Greeks & Egyptions for enlightenment.
I know few things, that in Muslim Spain & Ottoman Empire Muslim women were working side by side with men in every known field. They enjoy music, loved art & contribute towards humanity.
Re: Music, Talent and Islam
Muzna, it’s funny you should bring this up…cuz I was thinking about the same thing these past two days…but more in regards to Michael Jackson’s music. He was odd and personal life asides…the guy had talent. And I wondered the same thing…that it’s interesting how some have been blessed with so much musical talent…if it’s not supposed to be used. I’ve heard mixed things about the issue of music…and I admit I haven’t read too much about the rulings or considered them seriously, so I’m not too knowledgeable about it ![]()
Re: Music, Talent and Islam
This guy is self-taught. Even more amazing.
Re: Music, Talent and Islam
I'm not sure about metal/rock but classical music is allowed according to some muslim scholars.
Re: Music, Talent and Islam
^ ye kia baat huwi? whats so wrong with metal & rock. if anything, it should be the lyrical content that should matter. whatever type of music it is.

Classical music is used for healing. I don't see the same with heavy metal etc. Rock and pop is used on farms to make the pigs eat more. lol
Re: Music, Talent and Islam
Each and every individual is talented in one way or the other. It's upto you how you make use of that talent; some people make good use of it while others' just couldn't care less about what Islam says, all they care about is money, fame & luxury.
IMO, just because you have talent doesn't mean you can start wondering why xyz is forbidden in Islam. If it is forbidden, it's forbidden for a good reason. Simple :)
Re: Music, Talent and Islam
but I really would like to know the exact hadith that says it's absolutely forbidden.

I love Bilal's name and what He stood for...

Re: Music, Talent and Islam
Iblees had a talent too, his knowledge. This is why he was appointed the teacher of angels. But what did he do? He used his knowledge in wrong direction. He started comparing his origin (fire) with Adam's (clay) and concluded that fire is better than clay hence he ought not to prostrate to Adam. Get the drift?
