Music recommendations

I’m relatively new to American/English music bands etc, but have been quite keen on trying on different Artists and groups. I want to ask for music recommendations from fellow guppoos based on what I have liked so far so that they can recommend me same type of music from Artists I’ve been missing out.

Following are some of my categorical favorite bands or the groups I already have CDs of:

Classic Rock:
1- Beatles
2- Rolling Stones
3- Pink Floyd
4- Led Zeppelin
5- Eagles
6- Doors (didn’t like much)
7- Beach Boys (I’ve there best of hits CD and I think that’s as far as I would go on them)
8- Jimi Hendrix (didn’t like much)

R&B/Soul/Motown:
1- Marvin Gayve
2- Big Chill 2 CD soundtrack (wonderful compilation)

Pop/Rock:
1- U2 (one of my favorites)
2- Sting (Ditto above)
3- Celine Dion
4- Best of Phil Collins
5- Michael Jackson
6- Madonna

Fraudia recommended me quite few the other day in chatroom, could you please list them here as well Fraudia?

I personally don’t like teenage idols like Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys stuff. I also tend to not like some of the harsh-on-the-ears stuff like heavy metal but would try some if there is some selective good stuff out there.

I’m interested more in some of the mature and established bands like U2 etc. So what are you recommendations? Also, it would be good if you could recommend the specific CDs of those bands instead of just the band name.

Thanks.

the other day, the band Creed was also complimented in the chatroom.

-Creed has had 2 albums released during the past 3 yrs. Their latest album (& their earlier one) are really good!!
In the store, if you get hte chance, listen to the tracks before you buy it. It can be…heavy wrt the guitar usage (but i like it…) & their acoustic tracks are jsut as good.

  • Get the Def Lepard Greatest Hits CD: “Vault”

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smile.gif

has swearing etc in it … and yes DMX is pretty good

if you have napster then add some rappers to your hotlist and checkout some of the songs …
I listen to a bit of rock (only nirvana & metallica) .. the rest is rap/hiphop
