Mushy will 'Elect' himself this autumn

Re: Mushy will 'Elect' himself this autumn

what about the elections where nawaz and Bb played musical chairs for power?

Re: Mushy will 'Elect' himself this autumn

Food For Thought:

Chopping and changing didn't REALLY work for Henry VIII either...

' “It is a duty for every Muslim in whose breast Allah has put any knowledge and fiqh to go to those with power to command them to do what is right and forbid them from doing what is wrong so that the station of man of knowledge will be clear to others. If that is the case, then it is an excellence which is unsurpassed.” ... Malik did not think that the khalifs of his time were ruling according to the laws of Islam; but nor did he thinnk that it was permissible to remove them by force, because of the result of civil strife was inevitably corruption and disorder. He therefore considered it his duty to guide the khalifs and reform them because he was a man who looked at the actual facts. Perhaps they would be moved to right guidance. ' --- Malik b. Anas, from The Four Imams,* Maliks admonition and counsel to the khalifs,* Muhammad Abu Zahra, p.27-28

Just Food For Thought...

Re: Mushy will 'Elect' himself this autumn

true, 'democracy' has never been perfect in Pakistan, esp as it's controlled by the Army. But at least under 'democracy' we had a say in who would be our rulers.

Re: Mushy will 'Elect' himself this autumn

o bhai.. no bhashan. I am asking about what type of crap was noticed when elections were held when BB and Nawaz were in power. I am not playing some tit for tat game, since u were there I am asking for what was observed then because from what i recall and this was all foriegn NGO and watchdog type groups they all blasted the rigging of the elections. Just wanted to hear what the man on the street (i.e. you) saw.

merci

^
In cities, the elections were quite fine and in villages too but those vadiaraa and chohdary kinda villages where people usually have no choice.

I know that in cities such as Lahore, some people were caught because they were trying to vote under a different name / with a wrong ID card etc.
Updated lists were used.

BB actually had some issues with the Election Commissioner. I don't know the details though. I think, it wasn't a big deal.

According to my knowledge those elections were way better than Mushy's referendum.
My knowledge has limitations ofcourse.

Re: Mushy will ‘Elect’ himself this autumn

offtopic but a similar question on ppl minds thesedays is what happens if USA leaves iraq. the govt and media with their ongoing fear mongering have let us into beleiving that a civil war invovling the entire region would become inevitable.
so i see lots of similarities with our general sahib here. making the public beleive that bb and ctbt, or worse yet maulvis will make a comeback. he will never cede power considering that he has the west in his back pocket. the public in cities has been numbed down by cheap thrills so cant expect any resistance from them as someone pointed earlier. its a train heading for disaster but the interior has been polished with all these bells and whistles that no one really cares on the eventual outcome.

Re: Mushy will 'Elect' himself this autumn

^ orget Musharaf making public believe anything. I asked a simple question, which is... when he steps down, who is going to lead the nation.

the question still stands, and bashing him is not really answering the question.

I am not asking this is a musharraf supporter, or as a musharraf opponent or a loyalist or a hater or anything. Its a simple question...who will come in power next.

Re: Mushy will 'Elect' himself this autumn

who will come next? whoever the army wants (be it another coup or a puppet govt), although they are pretty happy with the status quo. our army runs like a corporation looking for its self interests first, and if that means screwing the public then so be it.

Re: Mushy will 'Elect' himself this autumn

Army is the kingmaker.
Army likes the idea of a not-so-ex ex military man at the top
Army probably by now also knows whoever at the top has to know international relations, at the least, how to deal with the US, India, China and the world press.
If they think logically they will not find anyone.
Therefore they will go with the precedent ie making tha COAS the 'president'

Re: Mushy will ‘Elect’ himself this autumn

so ZAB, Nawaz ann BB were all puppets? and if so, what is anyone’s motivation to remove the pupper masters from the stage and put puppets on the stage?
