I know very little about him, FF, in fact I first heard his writings from Zia Mohyeddin's audio tapes...
I do know however he is from the same place my father is from...Rajasthan...:D

Hmm. There is another writer Mushtaq Ahmed who is from bombay, later a karachite. I have been trying to look up his work but haven't found anything besides a little biography on him online. U wouldn;t know anything about his works would u?

Hmmm...I know Ishtiaq Ahmed, the children's writer...Sure it's not him? There was a Mushtaq Ahmed who wrote some political books...
But I am sure, the Mushtaq Ahmed I posted is from Rajasthan, not Bombay...

The first clip of 'Basude ki Maryam' is messed up...I accidentally uploaded 'Ghalib kay khutoot' in there instead of the first portion of 'Basude ki Maryam'...
Was playing it for someone and found out the mistake...
Not at my house right now, but as soon as I am, will correct the error...

hmm.. he is a banker by profession.. headed ABL and worked in world bank too.
I dono how he came into this ‘tanz-o-mazah’ field but my first reading was his last book ‘aab-e-gum’
i searched for his other books through old books shops in pindi
as ‘charagh talay’, ‘khakim badahan’’ and his biography ‘zar guzasht’
I watched him this week end on test transmission of a new cable channel called ‘Dhoom’
reading his peices from his own books
