ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s former military ruler Pervez Musharraf is planning to launch a political party in a comeback bid two years after he was unseated in elections, officials said Wednesday.

Musharraf, who has been abroad since ending his nine-year stint in power, could face a criminal trial if he returns home and he is wanted for questioning by the government over the assassination of former premier Benazir Bhutto.

An aide and election official confirmed to AFP that the retired general had applied to register a new political party with the electoral authorities in the Pakistani capital Islamabad.

Mohammad Ali Saif, a former cabinet minister and now a legal adviser to Musharraf, said election authorities would hear the application on May 10.

“I have formally applied for a new political party called All Pakistan Muslim League. Pervez Musharraf is the head of this party and we will formally announce it after getting registered,” he told AFP.

Saif, an unofficial spokesman for Musharraf, is active in organising the new political party and said the former president had told him in London that he intended to return to Pakistan and fight a criminal case.

Pakistan police registered a case against Musharraf last August, a precursor to potentially putting the ex-president on trial for detaining judges in 2007 as he attempted to cling onto power.

Musharraf imposed a state of emergency and sacked about 60 judges in November 2007 when the supreme court appeared poised to declare him ineligible to contest a presidential election while in military uniform.

“Musharraf will certainly come. He will face all the charges. These are politically motivated cases with no evidence,” said Saif.

“I am in Punjab to establish our party structure here. We will establish it across Pakistan. I can see a bright future for Musharraf in Pakistan.”

Sabir Hussain Gilani, a spokesman for the election commission of Pakistan, confirmed that the body had received the application.

“They want to register their party as All Pakistan Muslim League but there are two more applications wanting the same name,” he said.

The chief election commissioner has issued notices to all the applicants and will decide on their application next month, the spokesman added.

The deluded dictator really does live in a different world

I believe he is addicted to authority. My suggestion to him is: take your loot, change your name and disappear.

There are people who voted for Zardari-led PPP, MQM, PML-N/Q, JI then I don't have doubt that APML will get votes too.

Re: Mushrraf to Launch All Pakistan Muslim League

Most probably mqm, no one else. Rest assure. Once upon a time Ayub Khan also had party and introduced launching of Basic Democracy. Where is his party and his retard Basic Democracy?

The dictator is well off. He has mansion in Pakistan, US and in Turkey. He should avoid coming to politics if is ko rati brabar bhi self respect aor sharam hay.

Re: Mushrraf to Launch All Pakistan Muslim League

:rotfl: inteikhaabhi nishaan tabla!

Re: Mushrraf to Launch All Pakistan Muslim League

Why he don't merge with Sheikh Rasheed's Awami Muslim League... they both can be in the party and their Intakhabi Nishan should be one of the following

1) Like Spock suggested Tabla
2) Kaila
3) Danda

Their manifesto should be something like this

WE hereby promise that if we ( ever) able form a govt ( correction: win a seat) we shall do the following:

1) Gather all the corrupt members of different political parties and have them ministers in our party, the more the corrupt more important ministry.

2) We shall use agencies to pick-up people from their houses and sell them to USA, in this way we shall be able to bring $$$ in the country and have +ive effect on the economy

3) We will work hard to find a man who have some banking experience and have him as our prime minister.

4) All our minister and party members shall be allowed to have businesses and assets out of Pakistan, this way we shall tell the world that what ever money they give us, we re-invest it in their countries... the sole purpose of this exercise shall be done to improve the image of Pakistanies living abroad

5) we promise that no matter what, we will not let any money to be WASTED on strategic development projects in Pakistan, we shall have debate on these projects and we'll make sure that the debate never end, for this we'll have services of Sheikh Rasheed and that guy who is from Mianwali and just loves me and defend me as per constitution

MaraiyooN key bhi koy izzat hoti hay

it should be

All Pakistan MOney-making League
All Pakistan Murderers league
All Pakistan Monkey League

:hehe:

how about All Pakistan Musharaf League.. So at least he gets one vote. ( not even his wife will give him the vote).

About MQM giving them support, I dont think that MQM will do that again, MQM is a power player, who ever is in power MQM likes to the lick their behinds.

Re: Mushrraf to Launch All Pakistan Muslim League

Since the retard himself is hiding abroad, along with all his corrup top executives like that choosni tariq, ataaarni khoosat sardar kayum etc, he should get in touch with his cousin altaf hussain and get some instructions on how to do telephonic khitaab.
