I can name atleast three retired generals of pakistan army who are urdu speaking and speak just like other urdu speaking they are aslam baig,tanvir naqvi moiniuddin haider.Musharraf case is different since he spent his childhood in turkey he didnot have much exposure to urdu since his parents used to communicate with him in english as well and turkey he spent sometime in karachi and then fc college lahore and finally army so he picked up his accent from punjab obviously
But this can be treated as a weak argument because as an adult one cant pick accent of a non native language as much as musharraf has unless he wants to make it
Anyway threadstarter is generally biast towards urdu speaking muhajirs i suggest a new topic why do punjabis of karachi have a muhajir like urdu accent and why most of them dont speak their native language???

its the army style baby, i love it! i attended eme college and was used to this accent, and i admit i miss it!! I still remember col zafar (aka duffer) shouting 'stop walking like pregnant ducks oye'! Meri dignity aye!

now, if you are talking about the liberalization, then lets clear a couple of things here
1) this liberalization started right after Zia kicked the bucket. go back and read newspapers from ear;y 90's and you will see people crying about destruction of values back then. I distinctly recall mullahs going on a rampage in Karachi and attacking cars of people going to new years events..
2) the country is less liberal now than it was in the 60's and early 70's. ask people who were around then. I mean there was a casino built on karachi beach.. now whether or not it functioned as a casino is besides the point, but the fact is that it was designed, developed and built to be a casino..
3) if you are referring to television programming, they are private enterprises and in certain cases not even Pakistani companies as they are based out of the country. pak can block them from being shown in Pakistan..but then if you are going to use that as a precedence that govt should block that and internet access and all then by that token even during zia's era porn was available pretty freely, prostitution was around, and mujras took place. So I dunno what is so differen now and I encourage you to pick up pashto movies from 80's zia era, movies that were allowed in Pak cinemas, and tell me what values they are showing..you can also pick the same from pre musharraf era of the 90s and see what exactly was being filmed.

Khek, that’s because Balochistan was Baluchistan under the British. The Baloch regiment has actually been the Baluch regiment. And the spelling as well as British senior officers’ pronunciations have left a strong mark on the traditions, of both Pakistan Army as well as Indian.

for someone who studied at harvard and oxford she sure cant speak in english..but thenshe can not speak in urdu either :hum yeh karay hain: hum woh karay hain: hum yay kahay hain:
