Musharraf's 4 point plan - means Kashmir secession from India - Advani

Some form of joint control of Kashmir will be agreed which has made hardliners in India nervous.

Advani lashes out at PM’s soft stand on Kashmir

Senior BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Lal Krishna Advani today lashed out at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s soft stand on the ‘four-point Kashmir formula’ offered by Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf. He said the four-point formula would not only fail to broker any peace in favour of India, but, on the contrary, favour Pakistan, and waste the sacrifices made by hundreds of thousands of Indians in defending the state’s frontier. **“Pakistan says they have a four point formula to solve the Jammu Kashmir standoff. The four-point formula that they told us, is in reality, a ploy to secede Jammu and Kashmir from the Indian union,” said Advani. **"I was absolutely stunned and taken aback when the Indian prime minister on the very next day said that he welcomes the initiative and the formula Pakistan has offered. The Indian people have sacrificed such a lot for Jammu and Kashmir. So many people and so many soldiers have died defending the land, that no compromise is acceptable. At least no BJP worker will accept this formula," Advani said after releasing a party magazine.

Last month, General Musharraf repeated an offer of Pakistan giving up its claim on Kashmir if India agreed to soften the border dividing Kashmiris and let them administer their own affairs with oversight from both Islamabad and New Delhi. India is agreeable to the long term goal of softening the border, without any redrawing of a ceasefire line (LoC) that represents the de-facto frontier, but autonomy and joint oversight goes further than what New Delhi wants. While the Prime Minister did not respond directly to General Musharraf’s renewed offer, he did welcome a phased approach to resolving Kashmir’s problems, and at a business conference in New Delhi in the ensuing days, reaffirmed his desire for lasting peace with Pakistan. Advani expressed anguish at the Prime Minister’s and his government’s policies. "Adopting soft attitudes in their policies while dealing with state matters has been the shortcoming of this government. They somehow believe that it is best to adopt a compromising stand and buy peace at all costs. This attitude of the ruling government has made our country a soft state, a state with no firm policies. Now the attitude is to compromise with extremists, compromise with ULFA They just wish to compromise with all and sundry," Advani said. New Delhi agrees with the idea of creating a soft border in Kashmir and granting some form of autonomy, but has in the past been very wary of other aspects of Musharraf’s plan, particularly joint supervision or control. It is however, very reluctant to sanction anything that would give Pakistan a say in Jammu and Kashmir. Only a week ago, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee met Pakistani political Party leaders, a day after talks that heralded a new phase in a three-year-old peace process that has yet to resolve any territorial disputes. So far there has been little headway on Kashmir, where 45,000 people have died since militancy erupted in 1989.

This is exactly why the Militants refuse to end their war against India... I dont blame them with this sort of attitude...
Its appaling that he should mention the "sacrafice" made by the Indian people...
The Indian people have made no sacrafice, and if anyone has suffered it been the Kashmiris..

Ruling party chief in Indian-occupied Kashmir suggests Pakistani currency should be allowed in ALL of Kashmir. This would obviously be a main component of one of Musharraf’s 4 points, namely joint rule of ALL Kashmir by Pakistan and India.

Let Kashmir have Indian, Pak currencies: PDP

Even people in Pakistan are echoing what the BJP is saying about only 5 or so people who are privy to a “secret deal” that has been agreed on Kashmir - pretty much along Musharraf 4 principles, incl joint control

BJP cautions PM on ‘secret pact’ with Pakistan

BJP president Rajnath Singh today cautioned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh against entering into a ‘secret pact’ with Pakistan on the Kashmir issue without taking parliament into confidence. “If any pact is signed with Pakistan without taking parliament into confidence, BJP would resort to country-wide agitation,” Singh told reporters here. Singh also claimed only five persons in Pakistan know about the pact. "BJP wants to assert that Manmohan Singh is heading an elected government and is accountable to the people of this country. So, the prime minister must not take any step without taking parliament into confidence. “We will not allow any saudebaji (deal) on Kashmir.” On Pakistan’s proposal of demilitarisation and self-rule in Kashmir, Singh said neither Pakistan nor Pakistan-occupied- Kashmir has democracy. “So, they have no right to speak on such proposals,” he said. He also opposed the proposal of opening of the LoC describing it as a conspiracy of Pakistan to destablise India.

The govt of Indian-occupied has rarely, if ever before made Pakistan-like statements the need to take into account the will of the people of all Kashmir.

**PDP asks India, Pakistan to honour Kashmiris’ aspirations **

The People’s Democratic Party Saturday said an enduring resolution of the Kashmir issue could not be solved without addressing the aspirations of the Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control. Speaking at a meeting of the Political Affairs Committee (PAC), the highest decision-making body of the PDP, party patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said here that the issue should not be viewed as a territorial dispute to be resolved by the two neighbouring countries bilaterally. ‘It is a problem with external and internal dimensions involving India, Pakistan and the people of Jammu and Kashmir,’ he said. Sayeed also pointed out that the external dimensions of the problem involve the stands and stakes of India and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir while the internal dimensions relate to the relationship between the two parts of Kashmir with their respective mainland.’ 'The agreements between India and Pakistan like the one at Shimla, recognised only the external dimensions ', he said. ‘While we welcome the ongoing peace process between India and Pakistan to find a solution of the external dimensions, it is imperative that any such attempt should form a part of a comprehensive, integrated settlement structure that also addresses the aspirations of the people of the state and gives them a sense of security, dignity, prosperity and durable peace,’ he added.
