I must agree a number of things were much better under Mush thats for sure. I m not sure if I would credit Mush with all that. We dont want to boost his ego LOL.
Food prices were lower moreso because they were lower everywhere internationally a year ago - I do remember people were poiting fingers at Mush for food prices increasing without even looking at the international scenario.
Food prices will now lower now that petrol prices are falling.
Employment for young educated Pakistanis had increased - quite a lot of people were finding it easy to get good jobs in their own country and in some cases wages are that good almost equivalent to some wages in the UK - obviously not for the same job. But now theres a global downturn and obviously this will have an effect on Pakistan. I would nt go so far as saying Pakistan was booming before but it did alot better 2001-2006 as compared to before. Maybe that was a natural knock-on effect internationaly?
Had the CJ issue no thave happened im sure Mush would have still been fairly popular. That completely ruined him. He bought changes to Pakistan and probably thought the mental;ity of the people might not change but it had also changed and people protested.
I think a number of projects had happened under the Mush era - a lot of road building nationally, educational institutions increasing, maybe a few hospitals here and there....but Im sure he could have done more health and education wise. I think under Mush there was far more developoment than ever before.
But at the same time you had the after effects of the war on terror, still having to deal with the crooks masquerading as politicians, and doing anything to keep his position in power.
Im sure someone will post an article contradicting any good he did LOL

By no means am I a political or economic expert but it seems to me that Pakistan was in a lot better shape when Musharaf was in power. Food prices were lower, lower middle class (and upper) were getting employment, the country was developing in many sectors, the economy was strong, foreign investment was at an all time high, etc, etc. Agreed that he made the mistake of employing emergency and/or sacking Ifthikhar Chaudry but it seems to me during his tenure a lot of good (bordering on great) things happend in Pakistan. Since the PPP has taken over the economy and country have regressed drastically. What has this 'democracy' done for the country?
I say I'd rather be ruled by a 'dictator' where the people of my country have hope than have a democracy where everyone is in fear of their livlihood.
