Re: Musharraf To Quit in 6-9 Months (New York Times)
Pakistan has been a in crisis since its inception! Apart from Musharraf... nobody gives a s.h.i.t about the country. Mr Spaock goes on about the food crisis and the cost of living...blaming that on Musharraf...well I suppose Musharraf is responsible for the high cost in the UK, US, France, India.......etc lol! The cost of living has nthing to do with Musharraf! Its the global meltdown. Since when has the Pak judiciary ever helped the layman...its he who lines their pockets heaviest wins the CASE!!
The people of Pak dont give a s.h.i.t: BBC report: Authorities in Pakistan have warned that people hoarding wheat will have their stocks confiscated unless they sell it to government agencies.
The government says production of wheat will fall a million tonnes short of what the country requires this year.
There have been accusations that some Pakistani traders are illegally selling wheat intended for domestic use abroad.
The government has also said it will reward anyone who informs on people hoarding wheat, a staple food.
Authorities believe hoarding of wheat is one the main reasons for rising food prices.
Reports suggest that some traders are illegally selling wheat intended for domestic use to Afghanistan and Central Asia because they can get higher prices there.
In an effort to discourage people who hoard wheat, the government has warned that their stock will be confiscated if they fail to sell them to state agencies by Monday.
Farmers will also get incentives to sell their wheat to public sector agencies.
To meet the shortfall in supplies, the government has already approved a proposal to import 1.5 million tonnes of wheat to tackle the crisis.
Lets get the judicary to sort this out and MR 10%

haha yeah, the food shortage cant be blamed on Muharraf and shortcut Aziz, neither can the other trillions of problems associated with his bad governance. Even his own little Kings party has now pinned the blame on Shortcut Aziz (Musharraf's mujra parnter).
So you accept that all that talk of Mush's govnt being responsible was BS?
Mush govt's only fault is that they allowed exports without actually counting/weighing the reserves, thats for the wheat/aata crisis.

Re: Musharraf To Quit in 6-9 Months (New York Times)
Looks like a deal has been struck between the govt and the ‘establishment’ to get rid of Mush without throwing him in jail.
That would set a bad precedent for the generals
ISLAMABAD: The PPP-led government is all set to indemnify the Nov 3 acts of Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf, probably paving the way for his resignation and safe exit.

Business Week is reporting the same
Pakistan’s Government Preparing for Musharraf Exit
*President Parvaz Musharraf has offered to resign in return for indemnity from parliament for unconstitutional actions he took after declaring an emergency last fall *
The Pakistani government is preparing the ground for President Pervez Musharraf’s honourable exit from office by indemnifying him against the steps he took after declaring an emergency last November.
Musharraf “has offered to resign in return for indemnity by parliament for his unconstitutional steps taken on November 3, 2007,” The News reported Wednesday, quoting unidentified sources.
Law Minister Farooq H. Naek was tantalizingly vague on the issue.“Wait and see. Everything is open as of today,” he said.
Musharraf’s offer to quit was made during recent rounds of negotiations between the presidency and representatives of ruling Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chair Asif Zardari on the constitutional package the party has prepared.
“It came through when the Aiwan-i-Sadr (President’s House) realised that the PPP would restore all the judges (Musharraf had sacked in November) and clip the presidential powers,” The News quoted its sources as saying.
“A powerless presidency with the pre-November 3 judges back in the saddle was not an acceptable option for Musharraf. Hence the offer to step down in return for his support for the passage by parliament of the 18th (constitutional) amendment,” the newspaper said.
The amendment, to be introduced during the budget session of parliament next month, relates to an ambiguity surrounding Article VI of the constitution under which the president can be tried for high treason if he subverts the statute.
Looks like a deal has been struck between the govt and the 'establishment' to get rid of Mush without throwing him in jail.
TheRealDeal bhaijan. Would that be before or after the Great President Bush of Great USA leaves the office? :)
