Musharraf to address EU parliament

LAHORE: President General Pervez Musharraf is scheduled to deliver an address next month to the European Parliament as part of a three-nation tour, Aaj television reported on Wednesday.
President Musharraf, who is expected to begin his foreign trip after September 10, will begin by visiting the European Union headquarters in the Belgian capital of Brussels, the channel reported. Quoting diplomatic sources, the channel said that the president had formally received an invitation to address the European Parliament, earmarked for September 12 or 13.** General Musharraf will have the honour of being the first Pakistani president to address Europe’s parliament.**
The second leg of the tour will see the president arrive in Cuba to deliver a keynote address to a conference of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), where he is also expected to hold informal talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the stalled Indo-Pak peace process.
He will then make a brief stopover in Paris before proceeding to the United States to attend the annual meeting of the United Nations General Assembly, scheduled for the third week of September, the channel reported.
