So there we have it... Attarni General 'ullu ka kaan' Malik Qayum has also dumped Musharraf in the latest developments. This comes after his cousins altaf hussain, laloo prasad yadav and his former associate the badmash of gujrat chaudhry shujaat hussain ditched him and distanced his party. Sher Afghan, Musharraf's ex-masseur has also termed the november emergency as a martial law. PPP has also made it clear they wont defend his actions. Its payback time b!%H

Today was the 2nd day ( i think?) into the hearing of Illegal imposition of Emergency, and neither Musharraf nor any of his appointed lawyers showed before the court.
Musharraf is claimed to have said "I will only appear before the judges i set up earlier" *Source: Geo *
So what now? Will the hearings go on and a proper case filed against him? Because this as i understand is not an actual case hearing, but rather a summoning to give him a chance to prove his stance.
What if he doesn't show (either him or his lawyer), what can the SC do that is within its power? Order an arrest warrant through InterPol? Will Army intervene before it's too late, and save Musharraf or allow him a safe passage to somewhere safer than where he is currently?

Sher Afghan actually went out and said “He will come for sure, but will also NOT stand before the court” funny guy!

Two buzdils hiding in England now! Altaf was also convicted of murder charges by the Supreme Court and till date has never dared returned to Pakistan.
Reconciliation and not confrontation is the need of the hour.
Unfortunately our society is treating our institutions as "gladiators in a Roman colosseum". And our estupeed leaders from judiciary, executive, and legislature, all are falling on each other to become a better-than-though gladiator.
Our media and discussion forums like this, encourage and enjoy every cut, and every effort of blood-letting by the so-called gladiators.
Sadly very few people want cooler heads to prevail. And the result as usual will be instability.
CJ got thrown out unceremoniously few years back, and that was wrong. However he should have gone easy on suo moto actions.
Supreme court is the last backup institution for stability.
But our CJ is hell bent on making it front and center of the national "Tamasha". Don't we have enough tamasha in the parliament?
Our mosques that were supposed to be center of spirituality have become tamasha centers.
Our intellectuals were supposed to bring stability, and guess what they are running their bloody games on TV and media.
Aren't we sick and tired of bloodletting game in the Northern areas. Isn't it not enough to fill our lust for blood and gore?
CJ should get out the colosseum! pronto! He is no gladiator. He should stay away from daily tamasha as far as possible.
Otherwise our tamash-been, mujra-baaz, murgh-baaz, and londay-baaz spectators will destroy the SC. And CJ will not be able to stem the madness.
Time to learn from the past mistakes. Time to forgive and move on.

I live out of the country and everytime i pick up an urdu newspaper, i see something or the other before the SC. The other day someone had asked the SC to decide whether there should be a fifth province or not. What in the world does the SC have to do with a thing like that. Is there no other institution in the country than the SC.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court ignored on Thursday a plea to order initiation of high treason charges against former president Pervez Musharraf for proclaiming emergency on Nov 3, 2007, as army chief.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, who is heading a 14-judge bench hearing challenges to the imposition of emergency, observed that this was not the responsibility of the court. The court would rather take a simple route to decide cases before it, instead of derailing the system.
The bench made it clear that neither was it seized of any such power nor was it the proper forum. Besides, appeal against any ruling by a trial court holding Gen Musharraf guilty of treason would ultimately come to it.
Patience my friend! see what else is in store for yours truly, who is currently outside the country. If he or his lawyer does not show, then he is giving up his chance to prove his innocence and provide his point of view. i thought he was a man of the law and respected the law? now you’re saying he doesn’t care about the law? very confusing…
remember to swallow your pride (if you haven’t already) because the very court that was “ball-less” according to you HAS summoned ex-dictator. That’s a good beginning, after he fails to prove his innocence, and you are right he is being summoned to show his side of facts before the court of law for his actions.
Next step would be to file a case against him.

Mohajirs, Balochs or anyone speaking for rights of the oppressed minorities will never get a fair trial in courts of pakistan. Leniency in pakistani courts is only reserved for jihadists as has been seen over past few years. That is a given.
You yourself have been jumping up and down that the courts have not been independent for years in pakistan, so why should altaf or anyone expect a fair trial?
i) Dogar was a chamcha, Iftikhar is a hero. Dogar's pants also fell off on camera once.
ii) Hang Musharraf for all I care, but it should be based on the 2nd coup he imposed. Even his retarded goat Sher Afghan now admits it was a martial law.

100% agreed. If CJ has some guts, try Mush for coup of 1999. He committed worst crime of treason by throwing legally elected government of NS. CJ should change the history of Pakistan toward real democracy by initiating this case. Let the future military adventurers should get the warning and refrain from repeating this.

Iftikhar became CJ in 2005, but I do agree that the real crime was 1999 the rest is all fruit of that crime.
