Musharraf singular leader shamed in Amnesty's rights report

Another great unprecedented “achievement” by our illegal president.

Musharraf singular leader shamed in Amnesty’s rights report

H S Rao London, May 29 (PTI) Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf’s “repressive policies” have laid seeds for greater instability in South Asia, Amnesty International has alleged, shaming the former military ruler as the only leader referred to in its criticism of the world states for their poor rights record.
In its report on the State of the World’s Human Rights, Amnesty singled out the embattled President and slammed him for the policies pursued during his rule.

“Enforced disappearances and arbitrary detention have fed grievances, helped to spur anti-western sentiment and laid the seeds for greater instability in the region,” the foreword of the report said.

The prominent global rights watchdog also asked Musharraf to restore the deposed judges he had sacked last year after imposing emergency.

It asked Pakistani President to order an independent probe into the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

“President Musharraf must take immediate steps for restoration of the deposed judges and order an independent investigation into the assassination of Ms Benazir Bhutto,” the report said.

** A number of other countries, including China, Russia and Myanmar, have come under Amnesty’s critical microscope, but Musharraf is the only international leader to be named and shamed by the organisation.**

“Pakistani people have shown their strong repudiation of President Musharraf’s policies, even as the USA continues to embrace him,” it added. PTI

Dyamn… :bummer:

^ Oh it’s from Press Trust Of India… I am sure Indians always report accurately on Pakistan(i’s).

Re: Musharraf singular leader shamed in Amnesty's rights report

Saad, Musharraf has made good friendship with India by bowing down in front of them, you should praise their media lately for admiring him, i.e. after he stopped pulling off kargil like shenanigans.

^ Peace with India will never go down well with pro-jihadists.

Re: Musharraf singular leader shamed in Amnesty's rights report

Is that why Altaf bowed to his masters in india and called pakistan the greatest blunder in the history of mankind?

Altaf or anyone is entitled to his or her opinion, and what he said is not that far from the truth if we look at historical realities. I realize it is is difficult for those with jihadi leanings to understand the concept of freedom of speech, but do try.
