Like it or not, he has done his job as promised before elections. His sincere efforts has ultimately put the Pakistani politics in right direction. I wonder who is the fourth coalition partner. Looks like MQM.
**Musharraf says era of democracy has begun in Pakistan **ISLAMABAD, March 23 (AP/Reuters): President Pervez Musharraf has said an “era of democracy” has begun in Pakistan, a day after an alliance of four parties led by Pakistan People’s Party named their candidate to lead a coalition government. Musharraf spoke early Sunday at a military parade celebrating Pakistan’s national day. He said he had put the country “on the track of development and progress.” President Pervez Musharraf also assured full support to the incoming government. **“Whichever new government is formed, it will enjoy my full support,” Musharraf said in a speech while addressing the military parade at a sports stadium in Islamabad. **“I hope that these governments will maintain political peace … and will continue the struggle against terrorism and extremism with the same force,” he said. Well at least with this statement he has agreed that the previous govt was undemocratic because it came through a rigged election and was just a rubber stamp assembly.
as for free and fair elections I think they were held not because of him but despite of him, other forces forced him to hold clean elections, forces like the army which withdrew from the process, media and observers forced him to announce the results from polling stations instead of central office as he had envisaged.

Aalsi bhaijaan…alongwith Musharraf you should give due credit to Aitzaz who built the public pressure…and General Kiyani who withdrew army from poll politics and all Musharraf plans to rig the election were shattered…

More than 74% people living under US$2 in the country…as against 34% in 1999 living under US$ 1…if you consider 1999 US$1 = 2008 US$2 …that’s an increase of 40% as far as number of very poor people are concerned…
