Musharraf resigned under deal to give him safe passage: Gilani

**So what do Mushy supporters who whined about BB/NS/SS running away to other countries after signing deals for a safe exit have to say now? **

Musharraf resigned under deal to give him safe passage: Gilani

Karachi: Former Pakistan prime minister Yusuf Raza Gilani on Friday claimed that the current government was violating a deal under which Pervez Musharraf tendered his resignation from the president’s office in exchange for a safe passage.

Gilani claimed that former military ruler Musharraf was to be given a safe passage under the deal made by different political parties with the then establishment.

Gilani, who is facing corruption cases in courts in Karachi, told a news conference that the current PML-N government was violating the deal under which Musharraf tendered his resignation from the president’s office.

"The truth is this deal was between the Establishment, the Pakistan Peoples Party and the PML-N," he told reporters.

Gilani was the Prime Minister in the PPP government between 2008 to 2013.

“The Establishment and some political parties agreed that if Musharraf stepped down he would get a safe passage,” Gilani said.

“I don’t know why the PML-N government is violating this deal. It is uncalled for and should have been avoided because a commitment was made and should have been honoured,” he said.

Gilani said Musharraf, 70, should have been given a safe passage as the PML-N government had endorsed the deal.

“It was decided to give Musharraf a safe passage without any hurdles. The PML-N leadership had also endorsed this idea. All those who were part of the negotiation with the establishment on Musharraf’s departure should abide by the agreement,” he said.

“Now, the PML N government has started opening new cases against Mushrraf, which I think is not good omen,” Gilani said.

Federal Information Minister Pervez Rasheed, however, rubbished Gilani’s claims, saying, “If such a deal was made we were not part of it.”

“And as far as we are concerned the courts will decide on the cases against Musharraf,” Rasheed said.

Musharraf, who returned to Pakistan in March last year ahead of the general elections ending his over four-year self-imposed exile, has faced multiple trials including one under the high-treason act for which he was placed under house arrest and barred from travelling abroad.

He is facing treason trial for abrogating the constitution in 2007 when he declared emergency.

Musharraf is also facing trial in the murder cases of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto; former chief minister of the southwestern Baluchistan region Nawab Akbar Bugti and Red Mosque cleric Abdul Rasheed Ghazi.

The Supreme Court has disallowed Musharraf to travel abroad for treatment for a spinal problem.

Re: Musharraf resigned under deal to give him safe passage: Gilani

Another interesting program by najm sethi declaring
1. No deal by MLN about musharraf escape.
2. Current drone attacks are with acceptance by current political and army leadership.
3. Army already gave information to Hafiz gul bahadur, a taliban commander about operation and his people already ran away.

His programs are very much anti army

Re: Musharraf resigned under deal to give him safe passage: Gilani

Mush was given safe passage. He could have lived happily ever after enjoying tabla and taal.

The delusional general thought he would be welcomed as a savior and paraded to the presidential palace via GHQ on his return. That was probably not in the 'deal'.

Re: Musharraf resigned under deal to give him safe passage: Gilani

I think Musharraf was stupid to even think that scumbags who have no honour would honour deals. :)

If news is correct than I am really surprised why Musharraf was doing deals anyhow, or was playing Kabbadi with Scumbags like Zardari, Nawaz or BeNazir. Musharraf came to power with supports of men holding guns and that was his constituency, and thus, he should have continued ruling with their consent, only leaving when he had lost support of his own constituency (men with guns).

As for scumbags, instead of sending one to Saudi Arabia (Thug Nawaz and his family), or letting other out of Prison to escape to west (Characterless Zardari), or letting the one who has escaped to west after looting Pakistan and was wanted by courts (devious thief BeNazir), to come back with the help of NRO. Musharraf should have got these scumbags hanged along with their supporters (what Zia liked to do … even though Zia was also stupid to bed with scumbags, producing an illegitimate child ‘Shareef’).

Musharraf should also needed to learn from Saddam Hussain, and should have treated any characterless corrupt on Important posts as state enemy (hint: Iftikhar Chaudhary) and should have given to two choice these people … that is, they kill themselves using rope, or let the state do the job by making them stand in front of firing squad.

I only hope and pray that next military ruler would learn from Musharraf stupidity, keep aware about how scumbags are like, never trust any scumbags (with respect, power or country), and make sure that no scumbags along with their staunch supporters live a single day to see sunlight, neither any of their relatives and friends are left with looted money.

My advice to next military ruler is to never ever bed with scumbags and never let the government get out of their hands. Actually, if they decide to retire, they should appoint another military ruler to continue as head of state.

Pakistan do not need corrupts and thugs spending billions to get into power in the name of farce demo(n)cracy, and then do nepotism and corruption to recover billions they spent (making looting and plunder their need), rule the country like tyrants victimising and killing innocent unarmed civilians using their personal paid servants in state forces, judiciary and bureaucracy (what Bhutto did in Baluchistan, What BeNazir and Nawaz did in Karachi, and what Nawaz recently did in Lahore (17 June 2014).

**Whatever world talks or believes, and whatever some brainwashed people (most of them representing vested interests or paid servants of corrupts) want to sell to Pakistanis about democracy, I think, Pakistan needs military rule and do not need democracy for next 100 years, as Pakistan with deeply rooted ‘Bradari system’, tribal society with Chiefs and Elders, and feudal culture where money can buy anything from police, bureaucracy, justice to all sort of loyalties, democracy cannot ever deliver.

I am pretty sure that if military takes over Pakistan government, there would be more people who would feel happy and relaxed than people who would not … and good thing is that, those who would feel happy and relaxed would be common people (ordinary citizens) but those who would not feel happy and relaxed, most would be parasites who throughout lived or tried to live on blood of others, involved in corruption, and love haram earnings.

Best thing is that, if military ruler would be brutal towards corrupts, especially corrupt politicians, then happiness of people would be more.

Political leaders, army leaders.

All have disgraced the nation and all have disappointed the public one way or other.

Everyone is to save his or her skin.

They keep dreaming to be in power and sing the song:

"Meri Baari Kab Aayegi" :)

Re: Musharraf resigned under deal to give him safe passage: Gilani

^^^ well, let us learn to accept and respect differences in opinion. :)

As far as I am concerned, to me it does not matter what happens to Musahrraf, but things that matter to me is, hope of awareness amongst military commands that Pakistan do not need corrupt, tyrant and brutal thugs wearing political uniform, but needs benevolent person wearing military uniform in power, who can rule the country for the sake of country and not for nepotism, power-misuse, victimisation, corruption, and personal Swiss bank accounts.

things didn’t go too well for him… did they?

Re: Musharraf resigned under deal to give him safe passage: Gilani

^^^ I think it is nothing about Musharraf, but government is trying to send message to army generals that what government can do. :)

Now, it is time for army generals to tell the government what they can do. :)

The way things work with armed forces, they do not send message, they just tell with their actions ... so no one knows what army has in mind, what they would do or would not do. ... Looking at Pakistan, I have all feelings that time is ripe for armed forces to act ... and I believe majority of Pakistanis would support army takeover, and other than majority Pakistanis, I have feelings that many wearing uniform of politicians would support army takeover too ... that is different matter that, if one wearing uniform of politician is corrupt then they may find standing in fire of hell once army takes over.

Re: Musharraf resigned under deal to give him safe passage: Gilani

Most of the times, even the generals have no idea what would they do or not do.

Re: Musharraf resigned under deal to give him safe passage: Gilani

^^^ if that is the case than also, we all know that 'Harkat may barkat hay'

So, lets hope generals do some 'harkat' and think about 'barkat' later. :)

Re: Musharraf resigned under deal to give him safe passage: Gilani

Absolutely.

I just find it ironic that supporters of Mushy used to downplay civilian leaders making deals for safe passages abroad, and their very own hero chose the same easy way out when it made sense for him.

You are also right, they keep dreaming of being in power and Musharraf had no intentions of leaving office despite his unpopularity and a surging civil movement. The focal point was a simple order from his supreme commander. Of course, once the uniform was off, he had no real power and his new supreme commander in the west called him a military dictator and the rest is game over for Mush.
