**Just got hold of a list of major media appearances that Gen. Pervez Musharraf will be making as part of his book tour to promote In The Line of Fire: A Memoir. The book is publsihed by Simon and Schuster which will be handing much of the book tour, although it is clear that he will be asked about and will speak about much more than just the book.
(BTW, there is also a White House meeting with President Bush on Friday; so Gen. Musharraf will remain busy).
**Sept. 24: 60 Minutes Sept. 25: NBC’s Today Show Sept. 26: The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Sept. 27: NPR’s Morning Edition Oct. 1: *NBC’s Meet The Press *
Musharraf is a disgrace. One who continuously passes blesphemous remarks against the very tenants of Islam. One who is a feminist to the extent that according to him Hijaab is a trait from stone age days. One who finds comfort in seeing girls of Pakistan in shorts and suggests whoever does not like it, can just close their eyes. This very president is keen to relay vulgarity in Pakistani media along the lines of Western and American media and then suggests to turn off the TVs if one does not like it.
^In his speech about "enlightened moderation" i.e. follow 5 pillars and thats it.
Anyway, I like Jon Stewart, lets see how he interacts with Mushi, I have a feeling its going to be light-hearted, nothing too serious, Stewart is too much of a decent person to make it sumthing serious and maybe offend him.
Where/when was that? Because if he really did say what AQ was saying well then I don't like the guy either and I will go home tonight and protest against my father and mamoe going to that stupid fundraiser. :@
He did not ridicule islam or the prophet. Having the biggest beard or a beard does not make you muslim or a better muslim. Just take the example of extremist sunnis running around blowing up ahmedi, shia mosques etc etc.
Musharraf is a better leader then most in the history of Pakistan. Musharraf rocks. Pakistan zindabad.
Hey AQ before my Dad left today I told him about how Musharraf was blasphemous and all. Daddy said that he is indeed a very "modern" person but that his intentions are to benefit Pakistan. =\ I suppose they are...but it's not ABOUT Pakistan...it's about Islam, yea? Isn't that the reason the country was founded?
hmm is that all really true AQ? i dun kno much abt Pakistani politics but wud like to, i don’t wanna be ignorant. i always thot that he has to stay on America’s good side to defend his country, he can’t go against them or we’ll be crushed na?
of course that does not mean that he shud say such blasphemous things about Islam
Personal sources eh? well there we have it folks. Its all cemented now. Perfect proof of....bigotry.
Even if mushys wife is ahmedi, is she not human! You are deviating from the point however. Musharraf is a patriot. He is obviously a muslim. And probably one of the best muslim leaders in the world. Better then the irani or saudi (or any) mullahs! He is helping give Pakistan an economic makeover, never before seen in the history of Pakistan.
The only people that don't like him are the extremist backward sunni types, which account for very little in Pakistan, and tribal backward pashtuns that are supported by the indian secret services.
