Musharraf offers to end Kashmir dispute
December 09, 2006
Pakistan’s President General Pervez Musharraf on Monday, for the first time said that Pakistan is prepared to give up its claim to Kashmir if India and Pakistan agree on the four-point solution (a solution in which boundaries are not changed and India does not have to give up any territory).Firebrand separatist leader and breakaway Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani on Thursday came down heavily on Musharraf for floating new proposals on Kashmir everyday, saying the military ruler has “lost self confidence” and is in a “state of mental depression”.
The US on Friday welcomed the suggestion by Musharraf.
I would welcome this move if it would bring the two nations together and end the enimity.
