BOSTON – President Gen. Pervez Musharraf has hinted that he would quit the army post in not too distant future. During the question-answer session after a 40-minute speech at the Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, here Sunday evening, a questioner asked:” Mr. President, you have spoken about the role of the army and the three power-brokers. When will you appoint a new army chief? “
“I will appoint a new chief when I step down,” Gen. Musharraf retorted in his frank style evoking a laughter from a gathering of several hundred students and scholars.
But then he hastened to add:” That will not be very far off.”
The President was warmly received at Harvard and faced no hostility during the question-and-answer period barring some tough questions on democracy and army’s interference in politics.
Wearing a dark gray business suit and red-and-white tie, Musharraf sought to outline a vision for the future of Pakistan, saying that he seized power to save Pakistan from elected, ‘’corrupt’’ regimes and to build ‘’a modern, moderate, tolerant, and progressive, democratic Islamic state.’’

Musharraf will quit as COAS of Pakistan as he reaches the age of 60. He's now 58. That means he will continue to be as a COAS for less than 2 years more.

Musharraf won't no longer be acting as a CE of Pakistan after General Election.

He will never let go of the post of COAS because he knows there is a good chance the new COAS would end up pushing him around, if not overthrowing/killing him.
