a lot of Musharraf facebook fans love to claim that Musharraf was clean and not corrupt… which of course was horse manure. and now there is ample proof. for two days at least there was a headline on The News saying “Three ex-Army generals found guilty of Rs 25 bn scam” that I’d been trying to click on except it would never go anywhere. Dawn didn’t even bother carrying this story. but finally Dawn’s TV channel covered this shocking case.
so, the story is apparently that Musharraf’s pals including his mentor/teacher and current senator Javed Ashraf Qazi and his son’s father-in-law were involved in multiple massive scams… worth billions and billions of rupees. one involving the railway department and another involving selling prime land for pennies to Musharraf’s general pals. there are many more which are in the process of being investigated. they were stealing premium land by buying it for pennies on the dollar. they were getting kickbacks and commissions all over the world.
so, hopefully now Musharraf’s facebook groupies will stop claiming that Musharraf wasn’t corrupt. also a part of me wonders if NS or Zardari or any politician was caught in something like this, what his punishment would have been… and what the awam would be saying…
hopefully there won’t be dead silence now that wardiwallas have been caught redhanded looting the nation they proclaim to love. no wonder these kalay angrez can’t handle a civilian, democratic government. it makes it difficult for them to rob the country blind.
some highlights:
- Javed Ashraf Qazi and co made billions when he was minister of railways… he got kickbacks importing some super expensive trains which ultimately were found to be unusable in Pakistan because the track width was different. he used to keep the documents of these scams with himself. no one in the railways department had access to them. they were uncovered only recently.
- Javed Ashraf Qazi had Siddiq ul Farooq kidnapped and tortured when he raised this case. they almost killed Siddiq Ul Farooq for the crime of daring to expose the corruption of these generals.
- Javed Ashraf Qazi and two other armywallas “bought” 140 acres of prime real estate worth arabs of rupees for 18 lakh.
- Musharraf’s son Bilal Musharraf’s father in law was negotiating contracts and getting kickbacks throughout the dictator’s era. he was also part of Hasnain Consultants which was the front for this fraud.
- this is apparently the biggest scandal ever to come before the parliament.
- Javed Ashraf Qazi and none of the other accused called in and clarify their position despite repeated invitations to respond to the allegations.
- all parliamentarians including Sheikh waqas Akram (of Musharraf’s own PML-Q) got threats from Musharraf’s pals when they were investigating this scandal.
