Contrary to some who want CJ to be their “superman”, the guy himself seems to believe in the GS motto of “time to heal and move on”.

Contempt plea against Elahi and Rashid rejected by CJ
Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Thursday dismissed a contempt of court petition against Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Railways Minister Shaikh Rashid Ahmad. The petition, filed by lawyer Imtiaz Kaifi, had contended that Elahi and Rashid delivered contemptuous speeches against the CJP at the May 12 Rawalpindi public meeting which was addressed by President General Pervez Musharraf. The two had tried to scandalise the CJP’s suspension issue and therefore, should be punished for contempt, the petition maintained. Earlier, the SC Registrar Office had raised objections on the petition. Kaifi filed an appeal against the objections but the CJP rejected them during a hearing in his chamber.

Justice Ramday often used to make fun of the journalists in the court. They reported things he said and things he never said. So unless this comes up in other newspapers, I am going to take it with a pinch of salt. Until 10 tonight, I saw no mention of any such statement on any news channels.

why would "the nation" newspaper want to paint musharraf in a positive light? which political party do they link up to, fazl by any chance? just checking.
They are generally (and have always been) Nawaz Sharif supporters.

Please don't use such language - the Chief Justice is an honourable man - a superman to some :)

As predicted this is preparatory to executing the deal that enabled the court decision, on return of which musharaf will win any court challenge on re-election.But I am in agreement that Musharaf is a very sincere idealistic capable fun-loving man - probably the only one such in pakistan. Unfortunately the job he has undertaken is too big, nobody is there to help him and he is making many errors in judgement due to lack good counsel. Pakistan doesn't deserve him but are very lucky to have him.He came very near resolving structural flaws of pakistan but either due to character flaws or other unknowns, has missed narrowly.But he is certainly a man that pakistan can be truly proud of. So little else is going right.In fact I will put his character above that of the CJ, the latter has a lot to prove now.

Chief Justice also today dismissed a contempt petition against Punjab CM Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Railways Minister Shaikh Rashid Ahmad, in another indication that he will not disturb the existing power structure.

Plus a pay of Rs.133,250 per month (for the Chief Justice) and Rs.125,875 per month for other Supreme Court judges is negligible in comparison with the status they hold, and surely not enough for them to 'shut their mouths'.
