people in pakistan change their minds. a few years ago nawaz and BB were very unpopular..per the same IRI stats that people show here about how unpopular musharraf was in his last days. if you look at the same surveys, musharraf's popularity tanked and BB and Nawaz's increased.
so, I have no doubt in my mind that the stats that you posted show what the people feel like right now. It would be interesting to see 6 months, a year, 2 years later what the sentiments are. maybe they will change as in the case of BB and Nawaz, maybe they will not change.
but yeah, at the end of his tenure he was disliked by majority of the people. no doubt about that
It wasnt just the end of the tenure, it was when he brought back the same crooks behind the PPP, PML[n] in the form of the Q league, MQM nutjobs, and some elements in the MMA (very deceptively). When that wasnt enough to retain his kursi, he had to get the very kingpins (Bb, zardari etc) back to legitimize his lust to remain president forever. Thats when he pretty much proved that the words he uttered in Oct 99 were plain BS, and lost any support he had amognst the 'silent or vocal' minority.
