Musharraf was better than the rest; until he moved against the media. At that point, he pretty much fell to the same level as the rest in my perception.
I still back him, but only because he is the least evil option for Pakistan compared against all other potential leaders.

ISLAMABAD, Jun 15 (APP): President General Pervez Musharraf has been good for Pakistan as among other things tension with India over Kashmir eased during his tenure and the per-capita income advanced significantly, Wall Street Journal reports.
In an article by Arthur Herman in the leading American magazine, the author described President Musharraf as "good for Pakistan" in response to Benazir Bhutto's commentary 'Democracy for Pakistan' recently published in the same paper.
Herman, who is completing a full-length study on Gandhi and Churchill termed the record of Musharraf government as "impressive" especially in fostering a safe and relatively open Pakistan.
"At considerable risk to himself, General Musharraf has tried to rein in the forces of jihadism and end foreign support for fundamentalist madrassahs," the author opined.
Herman said Ms Bhutto's column was not only an exercise in hypocrisy, but a display of short-sightedness "on a massive and tragic scale."
He stated; Ms. Bhutto as prime minister of Pakistan proved to be one of the most incompetent leaders in the history of South Asia and was dismissed in November 1996 by Pakistan's president for what he called her regime's "nepotism, corruption" and "mismanagement".

Thats a sick, sick thought. You're probably a shri with a multinick. If not, you guys will be again rallying AGAINST the next government which comes into power, along with the machinery of the Pakistani media -- it will be a minor miracle if it completes its terms, and if Karachi doesnt again break into violence during its tenure, and if the investors don't again run away. Musharraf has a lot to his credit despite his recent shortcomings, learn to give him the credit and quit this ethnic nonsense. He's a million times better than NS and probably a trillion times better than BB and her thug husband.

Offcourse they can be replaced and Inshallah will be. I think that is why he has barred Nawaz and Benazir from running in election. Opposition and media like to point out that Musharraf only listens to pressure, I disagree. I think his appointment of Aziz so early shows that he knows what he is doing, which is he lacks political clout, so go with person who is moderate and will further solidfy the economy. It is upto people of Pakistan to reject the influential Mullahs and corrupt politicians. We cannot come so ahead and think about going to square one.
I agree Tind and BB are corrupt leaders, but my question is to Mush, why the hell all the corrupts members of PML(N) and PPP is in his Govt League. y don't he just barred them and give a nation a chance to come up with better leadership.
I was in favor of MUSH, but when he bought these lotas and lifafs , he shot himself in the foot. and to me, he lost the charm of being an honest and dedicated leader of Pakistan.
He thought he need these people, wll on grounds these people were never needed.

what is a Shri??? I don't think you have lived in Pakistan much.. My heart and soul is Pakistan.. Musharraf was okay b4 but his handling of May 12th crisis and his comments after the bloodbath when he blamed Justic Ch. Iftikar was in bad taste.. Prior to May 12, I was happy that Mushy is taking the country forward.. After May12th, I lost all my respect. Yaar, Pakistan needs someone who doesn't one community over another- it sickens me when I find people blaming Punjabis for everything,. and Mushy played the race this time. Anyway, I dont think NS was bad.. BB was really bad. NS never got full term to fulfil his promise.. I think NS provides a better alternative to Mushy
