**Andy Murray is confident he can continue his scintillating form when he takes on Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open quarter-finals on Tuesday.**The world number five is the only man yet to drop a set in four matches in Melbourne, although he has only beaten Nadal twice in nine previous meetings.

But the Scot believes he can add his third win on Rod Laver Arena.

“I think I can win. I think I’ve got some tactics that work well against him. I’m playing well,” he said.

“I just need to play like I have been, and maybe a bit more if I want to win the tournament.”

Murray produced his most accomplished performance of the tournament on Saturday, making only eight unforced errors on his way to a 7-6 6-3 6-2 triumph over big-serving American John Isner.

Rafael Nadal

The win paved the way for a second meeting against Nadal in the Australian Open.

The pair previously met in the fourth round in 2007 when Murray, then an aspiring 19-year-old, came close to victory, only for the powerful left-hander to come back for a 7-6 4-6 6-4 3-6 1-6 win.

The last encounter between the pair at a grand slam saw Murray clinch victory in the US Open semi-final last year.

And the 22-year-old believes his previous experiences on all surfaces have given him ample opportunity to work out the ideal strategy against the defending Australian Open champion.

“I’ve played him indoors, hard courts, clay courts, and grass. Each time obviously it’s a bit different,” added Murray, the only player in the world top five yet to win a grand slam title.

“I’ve played him in some really good matches on hard courts. I think I’ve got some tactics that work well against him.”

The Organiser

Nadal’s record against top 10 players has been less than convincing in the past year since his defeat by Robin Soderling in the French Open final last year.

The Spaniard has won only one in 11 matches against the world elite, although he is not placing too much emphasis on statistics.

“The numbers are the numbers, so it is probably not the best form of my career against the top 10,” stated Nadal.

"But I am happy with the draw. The most important thing is I am in quarter-finals and I have only lost two sets.

“Andy is one of the more difficult players to play against. I will have to play my best tennis.”
