Re: Murad Ali Shah named as next Sindh CM

Good. PPP has good people and need them to take charge. This is perform or perish paradigm. PPP will get heavy casualties in 2018 in Sindh if they don't get their act together.

Re: Murad Ali Shah named as next Sindh CM

Not sure how you regarded him 'good', just by degrees? Will need to watch his performance, considering he is part of PPP it is very unlikely he will be able to do any good for the cities or province.

Re: Murad Ali Shah named as next Sindh CM

Qayam Ali Shah was not the problem of PPP in Sindh...niether would be Murad Ali Shah...

Problem for QAS was brothers, friends and other Munh ChRHay govt officials and by replacing QAS with MAS...probelm remains where it was...

Good luck PPP...

Re: Murad Ali Shah named as next Sindh CM

puppets get old too and needed to be replaced!

Re: Murad Ali Shah named as next Sindh CM

Nothing will change. Governance is beyond present PPP.

Re: Murad Ali Shah named as next Sindh CM

Ms Talpur remains in charge, regardless changes in the puppet cabinet.

Re: Murad Ali Shah named as next Sindh CM

I desperately hope that he does something good.

Hoping that he turns out to be as good as his brother in law, who was the commissioner of Karachi for just 5 months, and was replaced because he tried to do something good.

The appointment of Asif, a well-reputed officer of the Pakistan Administrative Services who has also studied at Harvard University, made headlines with everyone in the provincial government referring to his posting as a ‘gift for the development of Karachi’. Having made his reputation as a ‘working man’ as Hyderabad commissioner, Asif was transferred to Karachi ‘to bring it at par with Hyderabad’.

Asif is also the brother-in-law of Sindh finance minister Murad Ali Shah. His personal interest in the anti-polio drive had boosted chances of the campaign’s success in the metropolis.

“CM had brought him to Karachi to develop the city,” said a bureaucrat in the Sindh government. “Recently, Asif requested the CM to allocate more budget for the city and because of his effort the Sindh government is going to allocate Rs10 billion for Karachi.”

His sudden transfer has, therefore, left many puzzled.

Decisions in Dubai

There are reports that his transfer orders came from Dubai, where the top Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leadership held a meeting on Thursday with some cabinet members, including the chief minister.

Some sources suggest the commissioner and local government minister Jam Khan Shoro were not on the same page with regards to the city’s development plans. “Commissioner was not toeing Shoro’s line on ongoing development work. Some influential people in the Sindh government, including the minister, complained [to PPP leadership] that he was not taking them into confidence,” a senior government official revealed.

He explained that Asif had made it clear that he would not be dictated to and carry on development work purely on merit.

“During the Dubai meeting someone called the Sindh chief secretary and conveyed the leadership’s message to send the commissioner packing,” said a source privy to the development.

Posting differences?

He revealed that the Sindh government recently approved a Rs1.83 billion development package for Karachi and there was pressure on the commissioner to appoint its project director with the consent of the party leadership.

Re: Murad Ali Shah named as next Sindh CM

They actually did “something” for hyderabad? why do i find it doubtful??? :rotfl:

Re: Murad Ali Shah named as next Sindh CM

I have personally seen the improvements Asif Hyder Shah brought to Hyderabad's roads. He tried to do the same for Karachi too. But "Dubai" didn't like him.
This is why it is surprising that "Dubai" now has Asif Shah's brother-in-law made the chief minister.
Looks like the Jam Shoro camp failed.

Re: Murad Ali Shah named as next Sindh CM

Well, I have seen improvements in Latifabad roads which I never saw except during MQM’s time in 2000s.
Little things. But even those little things were never done for that ‘mazloom’ city by pay-pay-more.

Re: Murad Ali Shah named as next Sindh CM

If this is an indication of Bilawal taking charge, it is a good thing.

Hopefully Zardari will disappear to the swamp he came from.

Re: Murad Ali Shah named as next Sindh CM

It is just ADI wants someone new to get things done...
