Director Rajkumar Hirani began shooting the trailer for the third installment of the ‘Munnabhai’ series (after ‘Munnabhai MBBS’ and ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’) last week in Karjat. The Sanjay Dutt-Arshad Warsi starrer is titled ‘Munnabhai Chale Amerika’.
Hirani said, “We’re trying to take the Gandhigiri concept a step further and compare it with western concepts. Munna (Sanjay) and Circuit (Arshad), not knowing English and trying to adjust to life in Times Square or the White House in the US, will ensure that it’s a complete laugh-riot.”
Arshad added, “It’s great to shoot ‘Munnabhai’ again. I can’t wait for the film to begin. We are like a family now. Although there is no bound script at present, I’m sure the director will do justice to our roles.”
Sanjay said, “People love to watch Munnabhai even though he is a ‘Bhai’. It’s because he is an innocent man and that innocence endears him to the audiences.”
Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra was accompanied by Hollywood actor Ralph Fiennes, whom he had invited to the sets. Chopra said, “The movie will tackle President George Bush’s principles, just like we showcased Gandhiji’s principles in ‘Lage Raho…’.
I thank the public for accepting Munnabhai. There is no question of a burnout of the series because the love for Munnabhai keeps on growing everyday.”
Munnabhai will now fly to America

We just can’t enough of Munnabhai and Circuit, can we? Well, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director of Rajkumar Hirani are very well aware of this. It was just last year that Lage Raho Munnabhai released and as we know the film has rejuvenated the Gandhigiri in us. Now, Munna and Circuit are planning to go international in their next film. The next Munnabhai film is called Munnabhai Chale Amrika. The news came out when the promo of this film was being shot at Karjat, near Mumbai on Jan 25.
It is said that director Rajkumar Hirani is still at the scripting stage of the film but they are shooting the promo following a certain concept which they have come up with. This theatrical of the next Munnabhai film will be released on February 16, along with Vinod Chopra’s Eklavya - The Royal Guard.
Since Munnabhai and Circuit are going to America, they will first have to start learning English and well, this is all what the director Rajukumar Hirani has to say about the film for now.
When the promo was being shot last Thursday, Hollywood actor Ralph Fiennes also dropped by for the shoot. The actor is in India for a UNESCO project and since he also happens to be a friend of Vidhu Vinod Chopra, he was invited on the sets. http://i.indiafm.com/img/news/07/jan/munnabhai1.jpg
