PA, how do you fast ?
Please give references from the Quraan that talk about the exact way to keep rozas. I know that Allah(swt), in the Quraan, instructs us to fast for the month of Ramadaan, but I need the specific ayaats that refer to the way to fast.

it MUST be studied from post Qur'anic compilations of hearsay.

So your going to believe hearsay that was before Quran?

Care to tell us how they used to pray.

As for Salat, then certain rules do apply as specified in scripture but this is just one act of worship from among many even if it is a highly important one. To pick this one out so you can finger-point or impose your own personal definition of what is an acceptable act of devotion is pretty ludicrous. Some advice: Spend some time actually worshipping God yourself instead of childish fault finding of other people's ways of revering God?

You are welcome to follow any rules for any kind of prayer you want to. As long as it is a sincere prayer from the heart, it is not going to lessen the prayer. I'm just saying if others don't follow all those rules and regulations they can still speak to and be heard by God as well as those who do. So I think the ones who childishly find fault with other peoples' ways of revering God are those who say you must follow certain guidelines for prayer.

once again.. nations before Prophet Muhammad used to fast.. how did THEY fast?? did they study Chapters on fasting in Sahih Bukhari?

You guys consistently miss the boat.. We're discussing why there's no need for hadith to be treated as an 'interpretation' of what's in the Qur'an. What's in the Qur'an are guidelines and a reminder; all worship practices were already in place before the revelations.

Now today if you can't reconcile your actions with what's contained in the Qur'an.. what possible flow of logic leads you to accept post Qur'anic hearsay as law?

Even more bizarre still! God is asking us to carry out “certain act[s] of worship” yet no where tells us how those acts should be performed!? :smack:

PA : What do you mean people before ?
So you think we should fast like the christians and/or the jews ?
How do they fast ? do the christians take it from their books which have been doctored by Paul ?

Do you have other sources of information that describe the way pre-islamic muslims used to fast ?

I pray to Allah(swt) to guide us all to the path of siraat-al-mustaqeem - Ameen. Allah(swt) is the best judge and to Him we will all return.
