Mumford

One of my rules of thumb for movies is that I would always watch a movie directed by Lawrence Kasdan, no matter what kind of reviews it gets. For Mumford, I was undecided if I should buy it at once or rent it first.

Not a big budgeted movie, not a huge plot, no great cast, no catchy media review but as always is the case with L. Kasdan movies, I enjoyed it thoroughly.

The story was pretty much known to me so no surprises, but then I won’t watch his movie just for story anyway.

L. Kasdan’s way of touching upon his viewer’s fascination is light. He does not present any aspect of the movie in a heavy tone of emotions. He shows it but he shows it lightly. And that’s one of things that fascinate me about his movies.

His idea of modern romance and humor is tender and slight, but yet visible. No slapstick stuff, no predictable jokes… just slight gestures left upon the intelligence of viewers.

Overall, it’s just a little make-you-feel-good movie, but it’s well entertaining with no moments of boredome. Just one of those movies that after you have finished watching it, you look at the screen and just smile.
