Hmmm not sure on this. Not fan of mob justice would rather the courts find guilt and dish out justice.

Courts will take place AFTER a crime has been committed, not sure what punishment is doled out by courts for "harassing" girls but any chhittar doled out by people around will serve as long term deterrent of such crimes.

i am with beeb on this one. once you let mobs intervene with beatings, one - it can get out of control before you know it and lead to lynchings. two - it can snowball into a communal riot like it did a few weeks ago.

Very civilised. Mobs have a tendency to get carried away or punish the wrong person. Like in the UK a mob got confused between paedophile and paediatricians and ended upsetting the doctor's house on fire.

i've seen police apprehending youths in ladies ONLY coaches of Delhi Metro...sab ko police ne murGha banaayaa aur un se kahaa k "kukRooN koo!" [cock-a-doodle-doo] kaheN...sabhii ne 100 baar "kukRoo koo!" ba aawaaz e baland kahaa!...it was very embarassing to those guys...hope they learned their lessons! :)

The people did hand him over to the police later. I'd rather have a public-shaming deterrent like this than a society where people just watch when a woman is being harrassed. Let's face it - in countries like India there is no guarantee that the cops will even register your complaint.

then the cops need to go. mobs and vigilante justice is the way to go if you want to go back 300 years in time in a jiffy. who's to say the two losers wouldn't manage to assemble a mob of their own and attack the fat woman slapping them so aggressively at a later date?
