Multivitamins and other supplements

What should a girl in her 20s be taking? There are so many things out there and all the time you’re being told what to take and what not to, I find it all highly confusing! Until recently I didn’t really take any vitamins, just folic acid sometimes. Recently I started vitamin B because its good for your nervous system and I need the added energy. I think vit B is found in energy drinks like red bull as well. And I occassionally take vitamin e. Now ive recently got myself evening primrose oil for pms, but Im not sure how much of it to take and whether its okay to take all these supps at the same time!

I think a daily multi-vitamin should be good enough?

My friend's mother works in a company that manufactures vitamins, but they're a nature-based company - which means that if you ingested any of their projects, it would not kill you (they claim that if you ingest their laundry detergent it wont kill you :( )

So, anyway, this mom was telling me that her company had done some research and found that many of the commercial brands of vitamins are actually not absorbed much by our GI tracts, and most of it gets excreted out in urine.

I didn't really want to believe her - but it is interesting to think about.

i have read similar claims, that most of the commercial vitamins pills arnt absorbed and just excreted out...

follow a rich fruit/veg diet, with the right amount of fat, fibre fish.. meat.. nuts.. etc etc - drink 8 glassess of water a day, exercise and you wont need vitamins from a tablet.

You know asian people are murder for wanting to take a supplement with their diet. The nurses and health visitors get so annoyed....

Why are you taking folic acid if you don't mind my asking? I assumed it was for woman trying to concienve or those in the early stages of pregnancy.

D-vit before the age of 30 is a must as it stops having same effect on u once u r above 30.

Vit E is good for skin. B is good for hair n nails. A is also good for skin. C is good for immune system.

Iron is a must for women in all ages!

iron supplements. thats what i take from time to time. helps to increase blood in ur system, especially during pms.
