I want to buy a multi-region DVD player that runs Paki / Indian DVDs bought on web and from Pakistan. Which one to buy? I am assuming that these DVDs will not run on any regular DVD player bought from any electronic store in USA.
Thanks ![]()

Re: Multi-region DVD player
Indian/Pakistani DVD's bought from Pakistan, are usually coded for Region 1, you can play them on any DVD player.
Alternative is that the DVD is region-free. You can usually play them on any cheap DVD player (the $39 or so available at Walmart). Due to their cheap price they are not likely to enforce Region Codes on DVD's (won't pay royalties for enforcing region codes) and will likely play all of them. Pricier models will not play some DVD's due to enforced Region Codes, or region-free.
However, if you are buying DVD's from Europe etc, that are coded on other Regions, you will definitely need a multi-region DVD player. They can be pricier. 3-4 years ago, a European collegue of mine bought one to play his Swedish DVD collection (kids movies for his son), and he paid $300 for it. I am sure the prices have come down a lot now.
Re: Multi-region DVD player
So if the DVD says that it can be played with only multi-region players, I use any dvd players in USA? Thanks for your response.
