Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

Mulla bashing literature is best seller category after 9/11.

The situation was probably not good for them in past. Do you remember anything positive written about Mullah in recent times? or anything positive written in past?

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

more people comment in this thread more are the chances it turns into a mullah bashing thread :D

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

lols. Do you remember something positive written about Mulla recently? I don't remember except Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi's short story 'Alhamd o Lillah' probably written in 1980s and Ashfaq Ahmed's 'Labbaik Labbaik' written in 1960s or earlier.

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

I dont know, but have these neem mullahs left any choice for the people not to bash them?

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

not that literay person, but i know what has been written in the favor of mullah is in comparable to what has been written against.

btw, most of the stuff written in past againt mullah is by another mullah. but now a days secluarists are the greater contributors.

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

Mullahs are part of society so they represent the society.....

atleast they are better than lot of us...

in indi those kids who avoid school education and very stubborn are sent into madarssas ...

i know two brothers who were very naughty during their childhood...both of them were sent to madarsa....one finished his education while other returned back after few months....

the one who became hafiz is a gentleman while other one became a rowdy

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

we should not forget atrocities committed against bangladeshis and i am sure mullahs were not responsible for it...

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

Like you have already mentioned in your post, I am not generalizing but he who falls out of school goes and gets a religious education. These people then impart the religion as per their understanding to the others. Results can be witnessed in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

As far as bashing the mullah is concerned, its not a recent phenomena. Some sufis have been bashing them centuries ago, it seems the mullahs didnt change.

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

Neem Mullah is generalisation at its best. There might be someone with balanced approach among Mullahs?

On one hand Mulla and religious people bashing stuff like become top sellers, movies are made on such novels and the writer becomes popular and nominated for prestigious awards. On other hand bechara Mullah could not defend himself. Why people don't want to consider what made Mullah so bad (if they are that bad). After all, they have tried to defend the religion at various stages over the period. If it was not Mullah, missionaries would have rooted out Islam from sub-continent. Rulers like Akbar did have created more fantasies like 'Din e Ilahi'

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

Sufis bashed acts not persons or their religion. The new system of bashing is a new phenomenon, where Islam is termed as 14 centuries old and outdated ideology.

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

yes, because it is a stupid approach to change people by bashing or expecting they will change.

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

Mullah bashing and religion bashing are different things. Mullahs are bashed for the kind of intolerant country they have turned Pakistan into.

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

Dont you think this bashing is a reaction? Thats the least people can do seeing the kind of destruction we have seen during the last 10 years, all in the name of a religion (that these people consider to be upholding)?

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

Mullahs are one of the authorities like politicians, bureaucrats so its common for people to bash them....

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

As far as I am concerned "Mullahs" are bashing my religion (of peace) by carrying out/condoning activities which are against its essence.

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

yes the kind of bashing Hazrat Molana Shoaib Mansoor did. Its not person bashing, its religion bashing by showing that all the sins can be embodied in a religious person.

If we talk of tolerance, how much tolerant our society is towards Mullah and religious people? have we ever tried to look into the lives of Mullahs? How they earn and how they meet their requirements.

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

Shoaib Mansoor is entitled to his opinion. By the way I hated the movie, not due to the stereo typing of the mullah but an over all depressing tone. Felt terrible after watching it.

Most of the recent reaction to mullahs is related to what ever is happening around us. Mullahs are not the only people in this country who dont earn that much.

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

On one hand we cry on neem mulla and the havoc they created and on other hand we say its not about religion bashing. Can anyone explain how many of us are ready to send our children in madarsas to get educated on religious matters. We all want our children to be on executive posts in multinationals, but only send those children to madarsa to be Hafiz and molana for whom we are hopeless. Is this our total sincerity towards religion?

Re: Mullah bashing and sub-continent's fiction

A few years back I might have thought about this, but now really I am scared of even the thought of sending my kids there. I don't want them to become an intolerant and inflexible bunch.
