there has been banning on mujras in stage shows...but that banning wasnot effective or was short term that the mujras are still going on.

and bipasha,katrina humping and bikini girls in indian so called "AWARD SHOWS" aired at prime time during weekends.......thats not vulgarity......or the indian soaps with all their young couples 'romancing'.....thats not vulgar..

Exactly. It's their culture and they can be as vulgar as they want to be. But this mujra crap is distinctly Pakistani.

Because it shows lack of respect Pakistanis have for their women.
This is a thread about Pakistani culture not Indian and that is why I will not condemn any other culture because that does not justify what Pakistanis do.

Mujra is in its essence a type of Khattak dance, combining ghazals and thumri's (sometimes called bol banao). It is supposed to be an entertaining type of dance and exotic (NOT EROTIC). It was done by tawaif's during the Mughal Era. BTW Tawaif's were not prostitutes! They were entertainers with a high class education, and knowledge of cultural values. They were the masters of tehzeeb *and *tameez. Mughal princes went to them *to learn. Although, they did dance in front of men (mostly), they were never to be insulted, touched etc... When the British heard about them, they thought of them as prostitutes and imprisoned them, and subjagated them (ironically they ended up going towards prostitution because of this) . Similar to how the *Geisha *Japan became prostitutes during the American occupation. As for equality, at least back then, these mujra dancers were given the choice of who to marry (as opposed to most women who had arranged marriage). And Mujra does happen in India, but (*ironically maybe) it is looked down upon by some Hindus because it is leftover from the Mughal Era.

bhai - Gupsters abroad would do anything to put Pakistan down and and Pakistanis down. It makes them feel better about themselves and their lives. Its an OK'ish goal for them, and we can't reason with them.

TT, i took this quote of yours from the mathira thread. Because this is what always makes me laugh (what mathira said).
That i know quite some Pakistanis who bash pakistani mujra dansers and call them all kind of things and say that they dont want their kids to see such stuff. Which i agree with, because it is vulgar and so unislamic.
But these same people will watch half naked indian actresses (soon they will even take of those few cloths) such as bipasha with their whole family. And there is no difference between the pakistani mujra dansers and bipasha etc.
Ok, ok there are some differences:
The mujra girls are maybe fat (not all) - Bipasha and co are trained and slim
The mujra girls are simply ‘cheap’ and kanjris because they dance like that - Bipasha and co are Bollywood celebs. (if you are bollywood celeb then you MAY dance like that. because it is an art. and you cant call them kanjris because they are performers).
The mujra girls are not (so) educated - Bipasha and co are.
