Re: Mujhay ghussa aa raha hay

I see that the thread started with a query, feeling or expression on something--has gone totally wild on something else :) and by taking advantage of being bereft from the subject---I avail this opportunity to extend this weekend message to ALL on GS;

**I love these quotes that I selected from a website to share with you for today, and -- believe it or not -- two of them are from Norman Cousins, who -- had a crippling, life-threatening disease. He refused to accept that diagnosis and decided to take his own health into his hands by taking large doses of Vitamin C daily along with daily doses of lots of laughter, brought on by watching funny movies all the time, most especially movies by the Three Stooges and other movies like that. And, believe it or not, he cured himself of that disease and then chronicled his recovery in a book called, 'Anatomy of An Illness as Perceived by the Patient: Reflections on Healing and Regeneration. **
***Then fifteen or so years later, he had a very bad heart attack and again was healed. After this problem, he again wrote a book, chronicling his healing process, and this time the book was entitled: 'The Healing Heart: Antidotes to Panic and Helplessness. "

The then went on to live until November 1990 , following cardiac arrest, living years longer than all of his doctors has predicted -- ten years after his first heart attack, 16 years after his collagen illness and 26 years after he had first been told he had heart disease.

So to think about what he overcome in his life makes me think that maybe there is something to the idea that we should laugh every day and that we should never dwell on problems or negative.

And according to the bio I read about him, he was a remarkable man all of his life, winning both the Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism and the Japan Niwano Peace Prize.

So when I read quotes from him, I tend to believe this because he really seemed to know what he was talking about.

With that, let me now share two quotes from him that appeared in a local paper two days in a row.

First,

"Nothing clutters the soul more than remorse,
resentment and recrimination. "
-----Norman Cousins

Then,

"Negative feelings occupy a fearsome amount of space in the mind,
block our perceptions,
our prospects and our pleasures."
-----Norman Cousins

Now for two other quotes that I found extremely inspirational:

First:

"It is more from carelessness about the truth
than from intentional lying
that there is so much falsehood in the world.
-----Samuel Johnson

And, finally,

"Courage is not the absence of fear,
but the judgment that something else is more important than fear."
-----Ambrose Redmoon

I do hope that these words provided some food for thought for some of you out there in cyberspace; I know they all did for me.

Do have a very special sleep-filled night, those of you in Pakistan and for those of you in foreign lands, I hope your weekend is very special and the Sunday---a wonderful one.

Peace, love, light, joy and hugs,

Raju Jamil (Karachi)
