its not my own argument but some critics argue. I think they want the sotry more idealized perhaps. I personally believe that love is not bound to bodies but souls.

thats right, but considering empowerment of today’s society (which does not give woman right to choose her jeevan sathi in many areas), how can one expect Heer (a lady from 17th-18h Century) to be so independent. We got an example of Mira Bai, but she was a Bhagt of Krishna and her love was not for a man.
