For Sunnis

Why not mourn the days of Shahadah / torture days of people more superior in degree to the Imams (At least not less then the Imams) ? PROPHETS. Hazrat Zakarya (a.s) split into two from the center of his head. Hazrat Yahya (a.s) butchered and many Prophets achieving shahadah on the same day…etc.

Above all, the day the most beloved Prophet Mohammad (saw) got stoned for 2 miles in Taif ?? At least we can easily find out the date this incident happened, even though there are many more painful incidents in the life of the prophet (saw). If you start marking them, you would have nothing to do except mourning every single day. Probably you won’t be able to marry or buy anything on any day of the year, throughout your life. Because there isn’t a single day in the life of the Prophet Mohammad (saw) when he didn’t go through the toughest tests/pain/sorrow…etc. no other human on this earth has gone through.

Even Imam Hassan (r.a) and Imam Hussain (r.a) didn’t mark the day of Hazrat Ali (r.a)'s Shahadah for mourning every year.

Lets stop mourning and try our level best to follow the foot steps of our Imams and Prophets in order to achieve success in this life and hereafter.

Why then ignore the death anniversaries (Shahadah) of so many prophets and Suhabas. Didn’t Hazrat Ali (r.a), Hamza (r.a), Umar (r.a), Usman (r.a), Talha (r.a), zubair (r.a), Saad (r.a), Hanzalah (r.a)…etc. and thousands of Suhabas not get shahadah, or are they not as dear to us that we don’t need to remember their anniversaries and can happily marry on their Shahadah anniversaries ?

We shouldn’t marry on the day suhabas got shahadah in Hijrat, Badr, in Ohad,…etc.

And if it is only about death anniversary and not Shahadah anniversary, then we should also include the wives, daughters and sons of the Prophet (saw). How bad would it be that we marry on the day they left this world.

I don’t want to get into huge arguments, so i will try to keep it brief

Above is a link to shia islamic calendar, it has all the important dates, Shahdat of Masoomeen a.s Wiladat of Masoomeen a.s, Eids, Shab-e-qadar, Shab-e-Barat, wedding day of Mola Ali a.s with Bibi Fatima s.a e.t.c.
We don’t know dates of all events through out the year but try to keep the dates we know in our mind everyday of year and recall which significant event happened on same day years ago.
Above said, we do have majalis and Jaloos of shahadat of every Shaheed Imam but Moharam is Unique for alot of reasons. I will provide couple here:
We Do believe that Mola Ali a.s and Mola Hassan a.s are above Mola Hussain a.s in Rank but we dont do as many preperations on there martyrdom of as we do for Imam Husssain. why?
When Mola Ali was struck on head by Ibn-e-Muljam Laeeen, He had his sahaba around him, His family around him, Laeen was captured, He was provided Kafan and all necessities that we do for a martayr after his shahadat were provided.
When Mola Hasan a.s was Poisoned, He was arnd his family, his sahaba. He was provided Kafan and Janaza was done and all the obligations were full filled.
This doesnt mean we forgot how many times arrow was thrown on Mola Hassan a.s mayat or How mulsims treated Mola Ali while he was alive but compare these deaths to Death of Imam Hussain and you will see why we mourn for Mola Hussain a.s more than others.
His shahdat was the reason Hashmi women were taken bare head to Bazars of sham. Mola Ali didn’t have to carry six months old to get him some water from people who had killed his brothers, son and nephews. Other Imams didn’t have to collect pieces of there nephew before there shahadat and carry body of a 19 yrs old son to tents of Hashmi Women.
If I kill an innocent baby today, u guys will want me to be burnt alive… but when I go to the court and the judge puts a hang to death sanction on me…even after doing such a shameful act and dereving this punishtment… I will be asked if I want water before I am hung… We remember this day more coz Hashmi’s and there sahabas were killed thirsty. I don’t want to go in detail but I will like to mention… Ask shia in this forum if they mourn more about what happened on day of aashura or what happened follwing day of ashura and you will get a surprising answer.
