Mughal...

:salam:

You :mash: speak Arabic…

What would be great, if you made a sticky in religion and named it learn Arabic, and gave us one word each day, I think we can learn at least the basics…Formal proper sentences…

I have been on this board for more then two years…If everyday, I had learned one word of Arabic as long as I was on GS, just imagine how well I would have known Arabic…

Not to mention you getting the reward for spreading knowledge…

It’ll be great if this can be implemented…

Thanks…

Re: Mughal...

I demand the same for Chinese dialects, Mandarin & Cantonese.

Re: Mughal...

^^

You can learn to recite Quran in them...

I will start with the language it was revealed in...

Re: Mughal...

I don't care about reciting Quran, and I don't want to learn the language it was revealed in. I want to learn Chinese dialects.

Re: Mughal…

that is a really good idea lajo.. please admin and mod do something about it
but i dont think anyone knows arabic here to teach us that is why :hoonh:

Re: Mughal...

chinese is awfully difficult to learn by just reading the words...if you dont get the exact pronounciation the words take on another meaning

my chinese friend was speaking to a chinese chap oneday and told him in cantonese
"Tomorrow will be your interview"

the young man turn pale and started to stutter but didnt say much

the next morning he had a solicitor with him.... who demanded to know who told the chap

"tomorrow will be your execution"

Re: Mughal…

Dang !

Daisy, can you ask your Chinese friend to translate the following sentences:

  1. I love you.

  2. You have a big ass.

  3. Would you like to buy me shoes.

Thanks.

Re: Mughal...

i would know how to write it down

no.2...you have a large donkey?

in china the dont have donkey's ...its a well known scientific fact, so they dont have words for em

Re: Mughal…

Just to be on the safe side, you should ask him/her the translations for words donkey and buttocks.

Re: Mughal...

as i told you , they dont have words for donkeys
and as for the other one...that'd be rude

Re: Mughal…

Lazy, don’t be a liar: they have a zodiac Donkey year. I bet you were born that year.

Anyhoot, also ask him to translate the following sentence:

*I can’t meet you tonight on the chutt (roof) because your wife gives me funny looks. *

Shabash.

Re: Mughal…

Hmmph, Lady daisy doesnt lie…!

im not going to help you…:snooty:

Re: Mughal...

^^ Chicken.

Re: Mughal…

An alteration to your idea, lajjo, since you come off as “learning Arabic makes you more religious”.

Perhaps you can have a word of day (in Arabic) that is specifically from the Quran - then quote the ayah that goes with it, and show the way the word is used in the ayah. Something like that.

It’ll make it more relevant to the actual Quranic text, without making people feel like we’re putting Arabic over Urdu and other Pakistani regional languages.

Re: Mughal...

a word wud be no good....
u cud use a dictionary and look at the meanings....
its sentences that help u understand a language....
but if its just words that u want, i think PCG is right, we cud have u urself suggest a word and then we can have other guppies (including me) have a look at the meaning of the word and its use....
