So I was looking through some pictures from Christie’s website and there were these amazing Nizam and Mughal jewellery pieces up for sale.
The cost for them is quite prohibitive from these auction sites so I was thinking about getting a few traditional pieces in the ‘old’ style made from back home.
I’ve seen Lahore jewellery shops (those in the main bazaars anyway) and I know they don’t really carry these kind of styles anymore. Most of them have abstract designs with colored zircons and stones that I’m totally not attracted to.
Does anyone know any reliable jeweler in Lahore or elsewhere in Pakistan who can custom-design authentic replicas of Nizam and Mughal style jewellery in Gold and precious/semi-precious stones.
I have looked at a few Pakistani Jewellery designers but their works looks too artificial especially with the stone settings and all.
I really need to get a few things like a kara, a rani haar or a saat lara, a few rings and some pearl jewellery.
My own family jeweler back home, though reliable doesn’t seem to have these styles. When I needed a set made, I had to plow through old 80’s catalogs and choose and alter designs based on that. It did turn out beautiful though.
